Description

Amouage Epic Woman is one of the creations of Amouage artistic director, Christopher Chong.  The inspiration comes from Puccini's Turandot centered around the Silk Road trade.  Amouage Epic Woman is pretty dramatic, emphasis on the drama.  A spicy oriental set on stun, this is rich and holds nothing back in its use of spice to warm it up and put it out there.  Sillage is maximum, which is great because it is beautiful.  Just don't wear this when you don't want to be noticed. Seriously, I mean it.  And keep it to just one quick spray, don't do a four-pump spray of this, you could hurt someone.  Others disagree, but this was my experience.  Not a bad thing, just a friendly perfumista warning!  :)

Review of Amouage Epic Woman

The Candy Perfume Boy - "Epic Woman starts soft and sweet with a sprinkling of pepper and a dusting of cinnamon. There is a slightly, and I do mean slightly, sweaty undertone to the initial flash of spice thanks to a delicately measured dose of cumin. The opening manages to be rich and opulent (a word that I always use when describing an Amouage scent) without being oppressive or heavy, in fact I would go as far as calling it delicate.

The heart is a stew of honeyed flowers, swirling in their own juices and delicately dissolving and exuding their scented facets slowly. The rose, which is of the fruity, boozy variety, is the main player for a significant portion of Epic Woman’s heart, but as it softens accents of freshly brewed jasmine tea drench the rose in green hues, casting the rose in shadow.  A touch of sour, medicinal oud adds to the rich wine-like quality of Epic Woman’s rose.

Epic Woman finishes her aria with a soft blend of dry woods, incense and what can only be described as a “translucent amber”. All of this is laid over delicate and creamy vanilla, which like everything else in this Epic tale is understated, elegant and soft. If Gold Woman is Amouage’s diva then Epic Woman is her shy sister, whose beauty lies in intelligence rather than brash ostentation."

Fragrantica: "Smoky, deep, alluring rose, woods and spices. And striking resinous notes sometimes. Dark, comforting, serene but in a regal, almost divine way."

Fragrantica: "On the right person, Epic Woman has the potential to be both opulent and alluring. As one would expect from an Amouage fragrance, Epic Woman is complex, dense and elegant. "

    Nice but not in love

I was hoping to love this more than I do. It opens fairly aggressively with a noteable caraway or celery note leading into spices and florals , rose most identifiable. It settles to a slightly sweet and powdery rosy incense with vaguely smoky woods and retains a touch of that celery thing . The woods are a bit dusty smelling and this is mostly what I smell in the drydown. I did a side-by-side with Caron Parfum Sacre and I smell similarities but I prefer the clearer, simpler Caron.

    Amazing

Perfume Posee did a review of Amouage Epic a year or so ago which piqued my curiosity. This fragrance smells rich, elegant yet edgy - just amazing!
