Annick Goutal's newest line is Les Orientalistes.  Encens Flamboyant is an incense lovers dream ~ paying hommage to frankincense in its three incarnations.  First the frankincense essence emerges as a distillation of tears of frankincense. Frankincense is harvested by making slits in the bark of the tree and letting the resin slowly bleed out and harden into white "tears?? of frankincense sap.  Black pepper and rose berry are added in the top notes for a bit of pungency.  Next comes frankincense resinoid, a warm and balmy scent, created by adding  sweet spicy notes of cardamom and nutmeg.  Finally, "Vieille ??glise" frankincense deliciously burnt and warmed by woody balsam fir, welcoming and sweet, and pure extract of lentisque.
