    Chanel no. 5, with Violets!

Sampled elsewhere over two years ago. *5 Stars* That’s all.

    A fragrant wonder.

I am instantly reminded of the Chanel no.5 I wore during the late ‘80s / early ‘90s period, but with a punch of Violet, which I definitely prefer. I wish this Balenciaga was available to me in those days. If you love Violet and haven’t tried Le Dix, it would be a missed opportunity not ever knowing the sophisticated and grownup interpretation of the Violet note’s potential in classical or traditional - whichever word floats your boat - perfumery. This is not the same meek Violet we came to know nowadays.

    Lovely, Wistful, feminine fragrance

Unfortunately, discovered Le Dix late, and now that it is dicontinued and so rare, a full bottle costs more than I am willing to spend. I was very pleased to find and purchase a decant here. I find this fragrance very intriguing:delicate, wistful, and feminine in an understated way. I wanted to like Guerlain's Apres L'Ondee, and I am generally a Guerlain fan, but I found it too melancholic. I often find violet or lilac scents have a candied or artificial quality, I dislike, which was the case with Apres L'Ondee and also Serge Luten's Vitriol D'Oeillet. This perfume is beautifully blended, and I'd love to find soething to replace it. I did not remember the Coriander note being as prominent in my original manufacturer's sample. It is quite prominent in the beginning, I even detect a bit of caraway seed, though as it settles into the skin it softens
