Description

Serge Lutens A La Nuit is a rich, stunning jasmine fragrance completely loaded with jasmine. Slightly indolic, it won't send you so far into indoles that your eyes roll back in your head. If you are looking for the right full-bodied jasmine fragrance, Serge Lutens A La Nuit is the perfect pick!

Review of Serge Lutens A La Nuit from noses that may or may not sniff like your nose.

from perfumeposse - "The perfect, graceful, indole-breathing lily.  This is one I rate highly as a pick for a wedding perfume.  It plays around smacks you in the face with indoles, but just give it some time, and you’ll sail through that beautiful skanky beginning and begin your love affair with skank."

from kafkaesque - "A La Nuit’s opening made me go “Mmmmm” out loud from the sheer pleasure of that lovely, gorgeous jasmine. It’s heady, but it’s not a ripe, overblown jasmine. The green notes give it a lightness and freshness. There is almost a milky element to the greenness that is hard to explain. It’s as if the fresh lightness of the green branches have combined with the honey and faintly musky feel to create a sweetly milky green note. The scent brings to mind a green bamboo candle I have and love it."

If they were aiming for jasmine, they got it

This is definitely a night jasmine if I ever smelled one.

    Beautiful jasmine

My favorite jasmine fragrance, lovely and lasting. It really does have a calming effect, as is said of jasmine.

    Great Opening, Weak Finish

If you're into perfume-as-art, you'll love all the ways you can interpret the progression of fragrance in this one. The triumphant burst of jasmine in full bloom fades quickly into a flower on the verge of withering, then becomes a nostalgic, ghostly blossom pressed between the pages of a once-favorite novel.... Yeah, no symbolism there. Heh. As much as I'm entertained by the story this perfume tells, I cannot love A La Nuit as a personal fragrance. That exuberant but short-lived blast of jasmine just isn't worth the subsequent lingering, dried-up carnation smell. Which might also be symbolic, now that I think about it. Hmm. Bottom line: Great perfume-as-art (and possibly psychoanalysis); not-so-great personal fragrance.

    Absolutely exotic and fascinating.

Right off the bat, it's a very powerful scent. A sweet and smoky burst of jasmine, accompanied by pleasant green notes. A La Nuit is a very believable, deep floral experience. It's like sniffing actual jasmine in a dewy, grassy field. But those green, grassy notes quickly dissipate and it develops into something much sultrier. Whew, there's that smoke again! I can tell it's the cloves causing the back of my throat to tingle, because it's exactly the same sensation as being around second-hand smoke from clove cigarettes. (Which luckily reminds me of my late teens, hanging around in clovey smoke-filled concert venues). That smoky quality also dies down a little bit, and leaves just a lingering trail of smoke and spice, like an incense stick burning out. Ahh...

    Clean jasmine

Smells exactly like my jasmine plant in bloom. The opening is a lovely clean green jasmine, and then the dry-down smells more like jasmine green tea. The smell of tea with faint floral lingers on the skin with a hint of honey, although my clothing carries the jasmine all day. A light fragrance.

    Good jasmine

Not heavily indolic, very close to the natural flower scent. Lasts a long time on my skin. Although I don't love jasmine scents I will wear this on occasion--I like it.

    Heady sweet, but not cloying

Love this sweet but not overpowering scent filled with jasmine and honey. Only gave it 4 stars because even the EDP does not stay on me.

    Nursery

A nasty hyper-jasmine and baby powder cleaning solution featuring oakmoss. It’s straight out of a baby nursery.
