Description

Serge Lutens Datura Noir is an oriental vanilla inspired by the night blooming datura flower that comes from the tropics - a creamy, milky coconut white floral, beautifully done, easy to wear, smooth as glass should smell like the garden at night.

Reviews of Serge Lutens Datura Noir from noses that may or may not sniff like your nose.

from perfumeshrine - "Datura Noir is rather schizophrenic, even for a Serge Lutens fragrance, aiming at pushing several buttons at once, much like the hallucinogenic datura plant is famous for; this Lutens fragrance is a kaleidoscope which changes perceptibly every time you give it a slight shake, but one can't help but get a slight case of the shivers while attempting it.  It has the almond nuance of cyanide we read about in novels, yet dressed in edible apricot and tropical fruit and floral notes (candied tuberose clearly present) as if trying to belie its purpose, while at the same time it gives the impression of coconut-laced suntan lotion smelled from afar; as if set at a posh resort in a 1950s film noir where women are promiscuous and men armed to the teeth beneath their grey suits and there's a swamp nearby for dumping bodies in the night...  The noir moniker is perfect for a night-blooming blossom, but also for something dangerous and off- kilter just like a classic cinemascope of the era."

from perfumeposse - "One that I ignored for years because I could never quite make up my mind how I felt about it, and I fall into the camp where this smells different on me every time I wear it.  Sometimes a lovely gourmand, sometimes a little bitter, sometimes confusing."

    Great tropical scent

I don't get much coconut, but there's something in that gives of a very heady vibe. Perfect for those hot summer nights

If I could give it 6 stars, I would!

Datura Noir is exactly what I've been searching for...a coconut fragrance with a big, white floral attitude!! It's a powerhouse, so apply with caution. Absolutely gorgeous, though!!

    An unexpected love

So, I don't tend to like creamy white smells. No thanks to jasmine, ugh to tuberose, and most gardenia scents make me reach for the motrin. This was such an unexpected and lovely scent. White-ish, creamy ( the vanilla and coconut smooth out) and all around summer without feeling oppressive. It has become the scent I am wearing this summer.
