Amouage Material was released in 2021. This is centered on vanilla absolute - featuring both sides of vanilla, the soft, cozy side and the leathery, animalic facet. This isn't the vanilla you thought it would be, but it might be the vanilla you never thought you needed. Created by Cecile Zarokian, it has notes of elemi, patchouli, madagascar vanilla, benzoin, tonka, agarwood (oud), incense, Guaiac wood, labdanum and osmanthus.
From Amouage - "Material is a paradox – through materiality, it evokes immateriality, teaching us to look beyond appearances and to realise that what matters is often unseen; an experience akin to standing in a grove and seeing in the sweltering shade a multitude of textures and manifold hues of wood and leaf and bark; all coming together into one."
Fragrantica - "Possibly the last word in perfumery on vanilla and labdanum orientals. This scent displays all the nuances of vanilla: leather facets in some parts, incense and oud in others. Smoother than silk for the whole journey and grown up all the way. A reference piece for future and past orientals. Outstanding work."
Fragrantica - "When I smelled this for the first time... My head was like 'I remember..' Just like Amouage boundless I smelled this in a spice shop before (not sure what is is) but here its like they captured that scent and refined it. I never thought I would like this as much as I do since vanilla is a note I cant stand, but here it just works beautifully, not too sweet, unique, balanced and very Orientale."
