Perfume Sample Sets
Because of the pandemic we are all unable to do a lot of the things that we love to do. But perhaps trying one of these "memory" or "atmospheric" samplers will bring back, through scent, the memories of what you once experienced. We've also used fragrances from a number of small perfumers. We love finding these smaller perfumers and thought this would be a nice time to share them with you.
The smell of a barn is hard to describe as it's a mixture of manure, animals, feed, silage, and wood all mixed together. Upstairs in the haymow/loft you get the smell of hay and dust. The beginning of Chapter 3 of Charlotte's Web by E.B. White reads: “The barn was very large. It was very old. It smelled of hay and it smelled of manure. It smelled of the perspiration of tired horses and the wonderful sweet breath of patient cows. It often had a sort of peaceful smell as though nothing bad could happen ever again in the world. It smelled of grain and of harness dressing and of axle grease and of rubber boots and of new rope. And whenever the cat was given a fish head to eat, the barn would smell of fish. But mostly it smelled of hay, for there was always hay in the great loft up overhead. And there was always hay being pitched down to the cows and the horses and the sheep." (That is about as perfect a description as you will ever find!)
You will receive a 1/2ml sample (1ml sample vial filled half full) of each of the fragrances in this sampler. You also have the option of choosing a 1ml sampler.
Demeter Fresh Hay Cologne - The smell of fresh cut hay on a hot summer day.
Demeter Stable Cologne - The scent of fresh hay, muck and sweet animal sweat.
Death and Floral Beneath the Shallow Hay EDP - Aging barn wood, the musk of a lingering spirit and old and weathered hay bales.
Wicked Good Hay Bale Perfume - Freshly mown hay with notes of sweet balsam, smooth vetiver and cedarwood that creates the fresh aroma that fills your barn.
Wicked Good Tabac and Leather Perfume - Denver Saddlery Company has been making heirloom quality saddles since the early 20th century and was the inspiration for this fragrance. Hints of coriander, clove, bitter orange, tobacco leaf, leather and toasted oak waft with vintage memories, sparking the air with possibility and miles left in the saddle for new generations.
Cartier Les Heures de Parfum IV L'Heure Fougueuse EDP - Tea, horse and hay perfection. With notes of bergamot, magnolia, lavender, horsetail, maté, vetiver, oakmoss, musk and coumarin.
Pekji Zeybek Extrait de Parfum - An animalic fougere that smells a bit like the minty chewing gum breath of a cowboy as he rakes out a horse stall. Zeybek revolves around a handful of key aromatics that are so complex that they spin the scent off in several directions at once. Narcissus exudes the fresh greenness of cut stalks, but also facets of soiled hay, civet and jasmine, which creates a 3D picture of a horse stall. The central ‘flowers in a barnyard’ accord is freshened up top with salty herbs, lavender, and lemon, for an effect that smells like spearmint gum mixed with sea water. This thrillingly odd combination rests on an equally odd base of industrial notes such as rubber, gum, and putty, all shot through with cigarette ash.
