Perfume Description

Bogue Gardelia was released in 2016, for Profumeria Sacro Cuore in Bologna. Commemorating their 50th anniversary and also the 50th anniversary of the boutique's owners', Giovanni and Lia Padovan, there were just 50 bottles made. Created by Antonio Gardoni, it has three types of gardenia in it that make up 6% of the perfume.

From Antonio Gardoni, "GARDELIA is a perfume extrait that raises a garden around a flower and from the earth grows following the tree’s lines up to their leaves in the sky. 50 of the best available natural ingredients have been used to celebrate a great flower. A gardenia to celebrate 50 years of love, 50 years of research, 50 years of passion, 50 years of perfumes."

This is perfume with a Capital P.  An epic mash-up of vintage Mitsouko parfum and JAR Bolt of Lightning, this is a monster perfume in all the best ways - big, retro, civety gardenia.  It lasts for hours, and you only need a drop.

From Kafkaesque, "An opulent, baroque, and complex symphony of notes that deluge the senses, evoking the very best of the vintage chypre style, and so much more as well. Animalic, lush, tropical, floral, vegetal, mossy, resinous, furry, musky, and indolic elements shine in pitch-perfect balance within a prismatic kaleidoscope that clearly nods to Gardoni’s famous MAAI, but also to vintage Mitsouko parfum, albeit a Mitsouko that is given a tuberose and gardenia twist. It’s like stumbling upon an unexpected nook of hot-house flowers growing deep within the recesses of a mossy, dark forest, unfolding like a furry and autumnal twist on the Rite of Spring."

  1. Beautiful Gardenia 5 Star Review

Posted by on 4th Jul 2017

Since gardenia is one of my favorite flowers, I have tried a number of gardenia scents. Although I have both the Tuvache and JAR versions, Bogue's holds its own alongside. Bogue's Gardelia in my mind is somewhat greener during the drydown, but I love it nevertheless.
