Perfume Description

Perfume Name By Kilian Bamboo Harmony (Asian Tales)
Year Introduced 2012
Perfumer Calice Becker
Gender Unisex
Strength Eau de parfum, edp
Notes top notes of bergamot, citrus and neroli; middle notes of white tea and mimosa and base notes of mate, fig and oakmoss
Country of Origin France

By Kilian Bamboo Harmony is from the Asian Tales Collection, which will eventually feature five fragrances. These fragrances are both an olfactive voyage and a spiritual journey. Bamboo Harmony pays homage to bamboo which is the symbol of human perfection, and the scent is memorializing a sip of white tea drunk off bamboo. This series is a much lighter take and more subtle approach than any of the By Kilian perfumes so far, and it is a little jarring after so many ouds and the Black Masterpieces. Light and refreshing, with sparkling tea notes, this is an easy to wear fragrance for any time.

Kilian Hennessy launched By Kilian in 2007.  Yup, the Cognac Hennessy, grandson to the founder of Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton Group, he followed his interest in scent, writing his thesis on the semantics of odors.  After spending time with leading perfumers, he launched By Kilian with the Collection L'oeuvre Noire (Black Masterpiece) series.  There are now 10 fragrances in that series.  The over-the-top marketing copy drew a lot of criticism in the early part of his launch, but the gorgeous packaging - black lacquer boxes and black bottles - started to win us over, as did the artistry of the fragrances.

  1. Room Scent 2 Star Review

Nothing special. Opens with a “harmony” of bitter citrus notes – specifically orange blossoms and orange peel. On top is soap with a tinge of oakmoss and lavender. From there it gets really soapy and somewhat tart green, like a bar of Irish Springs soap. Pretty boring and light. Smells like generic air freshener, and this would turn my stomach if it were louder.
