Description

Byredo Mixed Emotions was released in 2021. A woody aromatic unisex fragrance with notes of black currant, mate, tea, violet leaf, birch and papyrus. It is intended to olfactorily represent our current mixed emotional state.

From the founder about this fragrance "We're in the business of bottling up emotions.  I hope that people read the label and identify with that sentiment in its simplest form, and then find something deeper to relate to:  the juxtaposition between the familiar and the unfamiliar."

Founded in 2006 in Sweden Byredo perfume's creator Ben Gorham (former basketball player) wanted to create perfumes of quality while keeping their production in Sweden. Gorham had been fascinated with fragrance much of his life. When he meet Pierre Wulff, a perfumer, Byredo came into being. Currently Gorham works with Olivia Giacobetti and Jerome Epinette to create his line of perfumes.

Byredo Mixed Emotions Reviews

Fragrantica - "To me this is a realistic tart and green smell of black currant leaves together with the smell of the ripe black currant fruits in the background... creates that dense and sensual aroma that makes me think of sitting among the black current bushes while picking them up on a summer day... your hands smell of the leaves and the juice that accidentally leaked onto your fingers... "

Editorialist - "I realize the name genuinely makes sense. Mixed Emotions isn’t one of those scents that’s universally liked: It’s confusing and polarizing. You think it’s one thing and then it shifts and mutates into something totally different—and either you love that end result or hate it."

Reddit - "To conclude: I came in completely blind to smelling this, and am still unsure about the notes since there is no information on it. I find it very strange. My girlfriend hates it. The sales associate couldn’t even come up with an opinion on it. If you said it was “innovation over appeal” to the extent of brands like Zoologist, I wouldn’t disagree. But, I still like it. And I’m pretty certain I’ll get a bottle."
