Perfume Sample Sets
Cathedrals and churches around the world have a scent that is a mixture of old hymnals, candle wax, wooden furniture and lingering incense. If a church is made of stone they can also give off mineral and earthy odors as well. From actually capturing the olfactive molecules of the French Rouen Cathedrale to creating a fragrance inspired by the terrible fire at the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, this sampler features fragrances that are inspired by or dedicated to cathedrals, churches or places of worship.
You will receive a 1/2ml sample (1ml sample vial filled half full) of each of the fragrances in this sampler. You also have the option of choosing a 1ml sampler.
Maison de Parfum Berry Cathedrale de Rouen EDT - This is the first fragrance created using Olfactive ID technology. This technology reveals, through elemental olfactive molecules, the fragrance of a place - the Rouen Cathedrale. OID captures the molecules of the building and then in a research laboratory, an OID extract of Rouen Cathedral was created, in effect a concentration of the olfactive identity of the cathedral. It features notes of bergamot, Atlas cedar, Seville lavender, olibanum, cold stone, moss, musk and benzoin.
BPAL Midnight Mass Perfume Oil - In Roman Catholic tradition, the Christmas season begins liturgically on Christmas Eve, though it is forbidden to celebrate the Christmas Mass before midnight. The most devout attend Midnight Mass, celebrating both the Eucharist and the drama of the Nativity. This perfume is a traditional Roman Catholic sacramental incense, most often used during a Solemn Mass. Traditionally, five tears of this incense, each encased individually in wax that has been fashioned into the shape of a nail, are inserted into the paschal candle. This, of course, represents the Five Wounds of Our Risen Savior. Symbolically, the burning of the incense signifies spiritual fervor, the fragrance itself inspires virtue, and the rising smoke carries our prayers to God.
Oriza L. Legrand Relique d'Amour EDP - The smell of an old chapel in a Cistercian abbey. Cold stone walls covered with damp moss. The waxed wood of an altar and old pews ornate with carvings. Linseed oil in lamps. Incense and myrrh discernible in the air. But how fresh and spicy the smell of white royal lilies on this background. The beam of light breaks through the stained glass and illuminates this olfactory tumult of feelings varying from exaltation to humility and back. With notes of fresh herbs, pine, powdery notes, white lily, pepper, oak, incense, myrrh, elemi, musk, moss, waxed wood, woody notes and pepper.
Demeter Holy Water Cologne - The porcelain font, ozone scented water, oak scented pew - all mingled. To capture this scent, imagine an old European church, in a small town off the beaten track. This is the scent of the blessed water you might find there in an old stone container.
Arte Profumi Ecclesiae Parfum - A touch of eternity in the hallowed stone halls of a medieval cathedral where prayer and hymns along with incense soar heavenwards - in fragrant clouds of smoke, circling choirs of angels in reverence and devotion. Arte Profumi pays homage to frankincense with their sacred scent aptly named Ecclesiae. Spicy elemi paves the way for the protagonist frankincense and a heart of sandalwood. Smoky, earthy patchouli and vetiver lend the composition depth and volume.
Unum Delire de Voyage Notre-Dame 15.4.2019 Extrait de Parfum - This fragrance is dedicated and inspired by the terrible event of the fire of the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, which took place on April 15, 2019. However, the exhortation is not to stop on that date, but to open up the true Essence to the world. Filippo Sorcinelli wanted to set three main moments: the triggering event, the water on the stones and the Essence that remains. Notre-Dame Cathedral is undoubtedly one of the most known and visited sacred buildings in the world. Filippo had the privilege of being able to access places closed to tourism and to grasp unexpected images, smells and virtues. But what is the Essence of the Cathedral? We are immediately led to believe that it has only a strong smell of incense. But nothing is more untrue. The smell of Notre-Dame is not incense. It is today that “moment of smoke” that affects history. It is also water that overflows from the stones, which flows down the sides of the organ. It is today the gash of the vaults that brings light from the naked sky. It is the smell of uninterrupted life, of the soul not affected, it is a golden cross that spurts. It is the Truth that advances. It features top notes of neroli, basil, coriander, ginger, iris, lemon, orange, bergamot, frankincense and galbanum; middle notes of lily of the valley, geranium and ambrette; and base notes of patchouli, vetiver, moss, woods, tonka bean, ambergris and sandalwood.
BPAL Cathedral Perfume Oil - Venerable and solemn: the scent of incense smoke wafting through an ancient church. A true ecclesiastical blend of pure resins.
Comme des Garcons Series 3 Incense: Avignon EDT - Avignon is part of the Comme des Garcons Incense Series and is devoted to the five main spiritual teachings of humanity. Each fragrance is named after a city that is significant to those teachings. Avignon is Catholocism and is a beautifully spicy fragrance composed of Roman chamomile, cistus oil, elemi, incense, vanilla, patchouli, palisander and ambrette seeds. Avignon is a city in the Provence region of France and was an influential Catholic center in the 14th century.
Etro Messe de Minuit Vintage EDC – A dark, mysterious fragrance with notes of incense, mellowed by notes of myrrh, amber and a hint of vanilla. This has been referred to as cathedral-like and crypt-like. This is the vintage version, red paisley box, square label. It is not the first vintage made, which came in the green paisley box with the round label.
Alkemia Perfumes Gothique EDP - The scent of midnight mass in a medieval cathedral. A Byzantine monastic incense recipe of Somalian frankincense, styrax benzoin, Arabian myrrh, cassia, spikenard, canella, Liquidambar orientalis, labdanum, Atlas cedar and vetiver.
Beaufort London Revenants Vol. 3 Terror & Magnificence EDP - Terror & Magnificence takes its inspiration from the works of architect Nicholas Hawksmoor whose foreboding structures punctuate London’s landscape. Hawksmoor, who is referred to as "the Devil’s architect", continues to provoke interest for his distinctive churches, which introduced elements of Egyptology into traditional ecclesiastical settings. These curious architectural details and his recent reputation as a Freemason has prompted speculation that occult symbolism influenced his methods and imbued his designs with an inherent ‘terror and magnificence’. With top notes of saffron, black pepper and birch tar; middle notes of frankincense, tobacco and papyrus; and base notes of myrrh, benzoin, labdanum and vetiver.
