Description

Dior Leather Oud is part of the Orientals Collection. These evocative and intense fragrances evoke scenes from an Oriental dream. Smoky trails, leathery notes and sparkling oud reveal a world of deep emotions to experience. Fragrances in this collection include Feve Delicieuse, Purple Oud, Oud Ispahan, Ambre Nuit and Leather Oud.

It was created by Francois Demachy who had this to say about the fragrance: "To create this leather scent I envisaged the colors of an oriental-style painting revealing a world of dunes and horsemen. Its woody accord is a signature that is full of character, centered on a potent, animal Oud. It evokes saddle leather, the smell of a wood fire and sand."

Leather Oud features notes of cardamom, clove, birch, leather, oud, labdanum, cedarwood, vetiver and civet. A truly great, rich, exotic leather oud scent. It is an eau de parfum, edp.

Dior’s luxury fragrance line La Collection Privée has been reimagined for 2018, offering a new way for you to be dressed in Dior. Rebranded as Maison Christian Dior, it goes beyond a collection of fragrances to become a somewhat ritualistic concept; that of perfuming and embellishing spaces and moments in your life. “When I create perfumes I flout technical constraints, schedules, fashions and trends,” Demachy explains of his artistic process. The fragrances in this collection are formed in families of Orientals, Florals, Sensuals, Light Florals and Fruity Florals, non-specific to gender but without being labelled ‘unisex’.

Reviews of Dior Leather Oud

From Bois de Jasmin - "Leather Oud does not attempt to recreate incense smoke filled harems, or on the other side of the spectrum, to attenuate oud to the point of erasing all of its distinctive facets. Instead, it takes the framework of Dior’s own classical Dune–sandalwood and amber oriental–and creates a modern masculine fragrance with a dark animalic twist."

From Kafkaesque - "Dior offers an extremely refined, smooth interpretation of notes in a well-blended fragrance that is meant to be rather discreet, unobtrusive, and the epitome of moderation. Leather Oud is no exception, right down to its sillage which becomes moderate-to-low around the 90-minute mark."

From The Candy Perfume Boy - "Leather Oud says “sex” louder and more accurately than any other fragrance, forget about Sécrétions Magnifiques, forget about the over-sexed and “sex-by-numbers” marketing of mainstream perfumes, this is the real thing – this fragrance is positively pornographic, it is the smell of unwashed sheets, warm and ruffled and stained with the imprint of the night’s passions. It truly is a “Sex God”.

    Dior Leather Oud

This is a unique fragrance by Dior. For me, I don’t get much of the top note Bergamot and it jumps right into the heart notes which are easy to distinguish; clove, cardamon, Jasmine, and geranium. In the base notes it has somewhat of a peculiar note which grows on you after repeated samplings—it’s the note of beach sand (this is what makes it so unique I think). I love Agarwood. This one is great too, along with leather, smoke, and Amberwood. I have to admit at first smelling from the sample vial, I wasn’t sure if I liked it. But as you know, never judge a scent from a vial or bottle. Either test on test strip or on personal body---wrist, etc. NEVER! ON the dry down, the cardamon and clove really start to warm and become less medicinal. I think I smell a little Bergamot now which makes it fresher, cleaner. I’ve heard people say this scent is rough one. Maybe a little in the beginning-but only for about 10-15 minutes. It’s totally friendly. So, if you try it, let it wear on your skin a few minutes before throwing in the towel. It does change scent quickly and dries down beautifully. I would say it’s a little classy, masculine (not overly), and bit animalic-very little in my opinion. I can see it being versatile for many occasions.

May have been designed to be Unisex, however this is a Bad Boy!

Smokey, in your face tobacco masculine top note. This dissipates a little to introduce a warm, kaleidoscopic, interweave of Honey, Oud and Civet. It winds down to a soft, slightly feminine and complex symphony of all these elements. It reminds me of Brahms 2 my favourite. So, for the present Leather Oud is my favourite. I would say that it presents itself as a masculine fragrance to me, however,it is complex enough that I think that it could be quite captivating on a woman,at least to those brave enough to wear it. 5 stars for this boy!!

Great unique and complex frag. This is one to check out mainly for the more advanced noise.
