Description

Dior Miss Dior was launched in 1947.  Created by Jean Carles and Paul Vacher, it is a chypre floral. This is the Oakmoss-laden dominatrix of perfumes.  The vintage formulation (houndstooth bottle) here is very different from the reformulation from 2012.  This is old world glamour with stilettos and feminine wiles of the softest kind - contrasts between a toughness and a sweet ladylike softness.  This was released shortly after Dior's "New Look" collection's wild success.  Michael Edwards notes that the perfume was influenced by Coty Chypre and Balmain Vent Vert and that Dior asked his pefumers to create a perfume that felt like falling in love.

Notes of sage, gardenia, galbanum, rose, neroli, jasmine, oakmoss, patchouli, cistus and labdanum.  This is the vintage eau de toilette, edt.

Reviews of Dior Miss Dior EDT VINTAGE

From Bois de Jasmin - "Created for Christian Dior Parfums, Miss Dior appears to be lady-like and soigné, and yet it hints at the worn darkness of leather saddles and the smoke of slender cigarettes. Although one can enjoy Miss Dior for what it is—a gorgeous classical chypre with a unique green freshness, I find that understanding its context heightens my appreciation for its heartbreaking beauty. Born in 1947, the fragrance carries connotations of the hunger for glamour, the austerity of war and the hopes for future."

From Now Smell This - "It starts strong and sharp, with gardenia and dark green undertones from the galbanum. It retains some of the green, but settles into something much softer, with well-blended floral notes and a classic chypre base with lots of oakmoss and smooth woods. The whole is muted by a dusting of light powder, which tones down the earthy notes and lends an elegant, understated touch to the composition."

From Perfume Posse - "Vintage Miss Dior EdT is special, it’s beauty stems from the furriness. Weird adjective for fragrance right but in this case it’s so well placed. Vintage Miss Dior EdT can wrap you up like the most expensive silk cashmere scarf, elegant and comfortable, impeccably stylish and yet curiously welcoming."
