Frederic Malle Promise was launched in Fall 2017. This floral oriental was created by Dominique Ropion and inspired by the Middle East's strict honor code accompanying vows. In the Middle East, a promise made between two people is accompanied by the strictest honor code. Frédéric Malle celebrates this principle with a promise of his own, a fragrance whose beating heart is made of two precious varieties of rose - Bulgarian rose essence and Turkish rose absolute - lifted by apple, pink pepper and clove, and bound to a sensuous base of patchouli, cypriol and labdanum. It is an accord as unbreakable, and invisible, as a vow.
From Perfume Posse - "If I smelled this rose in my garden, I would only approach it with a full bottle of holy water and a crucifix. It is a scary rose – like turpentine is burning under the petals somewhere, but you can’t figure out where exactly."
From Fragrance Daily - "Needless to say, Promise is not a perfume for the faint of heart. There is something almost confrontational about just how pungent and dry it is. I’d feel comfortable classifying it as challenging, especially for a woman"
