Boozy and Heavy
This is a unique scent but it wears me out. After a few hours, Coquin begins to feel heavy and it makes my head tired. I think it smells amazing but, IMHO, not worth the high price.
We are currently out of stock on this (12/29/20) and expect a new bottle in yet this week or early next week if the shipping system is still bogged down
Guerlain Elixir Charnel Gourmand Coquin is part of the Elixir Charnel Collection which debuted in 2008. A delicious Oriental Vanilla. It is a sweet, sexy feminine fragrance created by Christine Nagel in collaboration with Sylvaine Delacourt. It has a surprising gourmet duo: the encounter between chocolate and smoky tea. Rose and black pepper, set off with a dash of rum, accompany this duo for an irresistibly bewitching fragrance. It is really delicious to wear.
Gourmand Coquin features a top note of black pepper; middle notes of rose and smoky tea; and base notes of rum, dark chocolate and vanilla. It is an eau de parfum, edp.
From Makeup Alley - "It is the only perfume that has received compliments on my skin. It does not have an artificial vanilla or strong alcohol scent like many others do. It smells sweet, but not too sweet, and not food-y at the same time. It smells like sweet, lush vanilla, chocolate and rum on me but also a little powdery without being too strong and overbearing."
From Notable Scents - "I think to myself, do I love it as much as Gourmand Coquin? Everytime I wear this, I sniff myself constantly. It is delicious, edible, and amazing. This is not the chocolate scent you would get from a celebrity fragrance or something cheap from the mall – this is high-end, ultra luxe and rich- if there was chocolate nicer than Godiva/Lindt/etc. – that would be the chocolate that you smell here."

It's a lovely smell my boyfriend loves it can't stop sniffing my neck.

Has a really exclusive touch to it, but after the initial 4-5 minutes, it's not really a very "gourmand" scent at all. On me, that is. It opens with a lovely burst of chocolate and some vanilla, that, unfortunately, doesn't last. After a while it ends up as a sweet(to sweet?) residue, on the heavy side. Quite elegant, but not very easy to wear, I suspect...would rate as a 3,5. Would have been a 4, if the delicious chocolaty scent had lasted longer.
I normally don't care much for gourmand scents, but this was love at first sniff. It is a smooth, luxurious, boozy chocolate with a hint of rose and it is sweet without being cloying. The dry down phase does not disappoint either.
