Hermes Galop d'Hermes is an oriental focused on rose and leather. It is a stunning creation that flawlessly blends these two notes into a signature Hermes elegant perfume. Galop d'Hermes was released in late 2016 and was a new direction for Hermes with Christine Nagel in charge of creating the fragrance. Notes of saffron, quince, rose, osmanthus, leather and musk.
from boisdejasmin - "The overall impression of Galop is that of contrast. It pairs a lush, bright rose with a dusky woody-leathery accord, and the two parts of the fragrance develop in tandem. The rose has a delicate candied edge, and at first, there is plenty of orange, so juicy and delicious I can almost taste it. The next wave crest is of saffron. In its pure state it smells medicinal and harsh, but in small quantities saffron is reminiscent of leather cured in flowers. Galop takes full advantage of this effect. In the drydown, leather and woods dominate, giving Galop a richer, deeper hue than its initial brightness suggested."
from perfumeposse - "Imagine a warm, sweet citrus with a lovely tart edge and then overlay an interesting sheen of something that could be saffron but doesn’t really smell much like my idea of it. The leather is already playing in the background for me, a patent leather, super glossy and new but well refined. There is a unfocussed powdery osmanthus green buzzing around and it pairs very nicely with the clean tea rose, lightly fruity. Galop d’Hermes is full of light and shimmers softly, subtly. I get a basil-like green also floating through. As the scent dries down it literally smells like it’s drying out and becomes more and more loved leather handbag or jacket. A comfortable wear."
