Perfume Description

Hermes Hermessence Epice Marine was released in 2013. It is a unisex Aromatic Spicy perfume with notes of cumin, hazelnut, sesame, cinnamon, cardamom, bergamot, sea notes, whiskey, vetiver and oakmoss. The inspiration for this fragrance lies in a visit Jean-Claude made to Cancale in the Brittany area of France. It is a lovely city by the sea, an area known for oyster farming. Ellena went to meet Olivier Roellinger, an amazing chef known for his intriguing spice blends, who has lived in Cancale since he was born. They met to discuss this fragrance, also referred to as the "first Pirate Hermessence."  Spices contrasted with the salty ocean air.

Part of the smell for this fragrance came from Bruichladdich, a Scottish whishkey. Ellena smelled it, then wore it around on his skin because it had the smell of mist, smoke and rock beaten on by the ocean. This is a fragrance that captures the sea, the barrenness of the land around it, its jagged edges and its smooth surface worn down by time. Another classic, the 11th, in the Hermessence line.

Epice Marine is an eau de toilette, edt, and was created by Jean Claude Ellena.
