Parfums de Nicolai
Hermessence Musc Pallida Essence de Parfum is a pure parfume oil.
“The orris root is one of the most expensive ingredients in perfumeries,” explains Nagel of the scent’s supple, violet-tinged iris, which is enhanced by its synthetic aromatic base to alluring effect. “With musk, the orris becomes like liquid gold, very soft.”
A pure perfume oil, highlights powdery iris and a warm embrace of musks. An intoxicating musky fragrance that is perfect for male and female.
Musc Pallida plays with the crossover of two materials and showcases harmony. In this glorious Perfume Essence, the sweet violet tones of iris melt softly into a backdrop of a slightly earthy and mushroomy musk. There is a distinct yet luxurious soapiness to it and a decadent floral character that puts it up there with the Hermès classics such as 24 Rue Faubourg, giving the feel of a composition that is more timeless than contemporary. In short, Musc Pallida is a ‘slather it on and feel like a million bucks’ kind-of-a-scent and personally, I’m always here for that.
An excerpt from a review by Colognoisseur
Musc Pallida is also what is given in the name, iris and again not one musk but a suite of them. The iris is what comes first but this is not at high concentration. It is an iris effect seen in better perfume versions. I presume Mme Nagel is using an orris butter of some kind because it has that nuanced feel of the better ones I’ve encountered. What it means for Musc Pallida is Mme Nagel uses a set of musks which cover the entire octave of musk. Early on it is a white musk which makes the powdery nature of iris expand on the transparent bubble it provides. A mid-weight musk captures and enhances the violet-like floral quality. A slightly earthy-animalic musk teases out the rhizomal rootiness. Together it makes up this shimmery style which also waxes and wanes on my skin. It is a lovely combination of ingredients.
It is with these “essence de parfum” Hermessences where Mme Nagel makes this collection her own. Both are like nothing else in it. With the release of both, Mme Nagel has completed the process of making the fragrance side of Hermes her own.
