Jovoy Psychedelique was created by Jacques Flori and released in 2011. Inspired by dark, smoky patchouli, "even the rain and mud of Woodstock won't wash it away." Chewy, thick patchouli with no fear.
Notes of Citrus, rose, geranium, amber, patchouli, cistus labdanum, vanilla, musk.
Jovoy is a French brand originally launched in 1923 that failed during the depression and the Second World War. Francois Henin re-created the house in 2006, as well as opening a large independent perfume store in Paris.
This is for a 1/2 ml sample of the fragrance.
Fragrantica - "The patchouli bound with amber and laudanum makes this so dark and dank, delicious, that for a few mins it nearly shares gourmand qualities to me. There is a sweetness, an almost chewy quality to it. Absolutely perfect to me. Once it all melds together and those base notes start to reveal themselves more prominently, it is over for me. The rose and geranium I can’t make out. Or perhaps I can, but, they aren’t st standalone at one time to give me a clearer indication “yes, rose and geranium “
Dissected and experienced one thousand times over it become more a masterpiece each time"
Fragrantica - "Now this is a sensual beauty and one of the best patchouli scents I have smelled. It opens up with a camphorous dusty chocolate like aroma that has a slight medicinal aspect. The pink rose adds that sensuality within this comfort scent that just gets better with vanilla as time goes by. Longevity and projection are stellar."
Fragrantica - "What kind of weirdo am I developing into? I'm not a fan of patchouli but this? Oooooh boy. I oversprayed my long-suffering husband with hilarious results. First time he had to scrub something off and, still, this persisted. So be careful with this gem, it deserves respect. It's beast mode, truly. Tread very lightly at first. I adore it, no other way to put it. It's addictive, in the literal sense. I keep coming back to my wrists for more. Earthy, sweet, deep, mysterious, alluring, the dry down is superbly complex on my skin."
