L’Artisan Natura Fabularis Mirabilis 60 connects nature versus science. In early times, incense was a sacred offering of woody spicy notes that tied man to the mystical. Then there was Ambrox® and white musk Vulcanolide®. Incense connects us to the early rituals of perfumed offerings to the skies and the gods and the presence of synthetic molecules transports us to the future.
Mirabilis is an Oriental woody fragrance with notes of olibanum, ambroxan, woody notes, earthy notes and musk. It is an eau de parfum, edp.
In reading some background information about L'Artisan for their new fragrance line, I learned something very interesting. Jean Laporte, the creator of L'Artisan Parfumeur (in 1976), was a chemist who was asked by a friend to create a banana fragrance to match her outfit for a fancy dress ball. The unique aroma was such a sensation that Laporte became a go-to within society circles for his individual, niche scents.
L'Artisan is a house that believes in the interpretation of fantasized nature. The new Natura Fabularis collection features six fragrances that are intended to evoke an imaginary garden. But instead of just emulating the scents of plants as they are in nature, perfumer Daphne Bugey, who enjoys creating confusion, was allowed to free her imagination and create a fantasy that would put an unexpected twist into each fragrance. Each of the scents features a number in the name and that number represents the number of trials before the final formula.
