Description

L'Artisan Noir Exquis is based on a chance rendezvous that happens in a patisserie where the aroma of confectionery and cakes fills the air. It is a gourmand fragrance based on glazed chestnuts, candied orange and maple syrup with an addictive aroma of coffee as well. Noir Exquis features top notes of glazed chestnut, orange supreme and walnut; middle notes of orange blossom, coffee and maple syrup; and base notes of macassar wood, heliotrope, vanilla, tonka beans and white sandalwood. It is an eau de parfum, edp. This fragrance was released in 2015,  created by the talented perfumer, Bertrand Duchaufour.

Reviews of L'Artisan Noir Exquis

From Basenotes - "Simple and easy gourmand. Reminds me of the candied chestnuts during Christmas time, so soft and syrupy with a latte perhaps. A bit of coffee shop holiday vibe. There is the slightest hint of some type of spice - a little bit of allspice or mace perhaps? A bit of deep amber-like qualities, all in all very calming and a bit of a treat."

From Basenotes - "Toasted coconut, chesnuts, yum! This is a delicious gourmand that is nearly edible. It smells like authentic macaroons. With incredible lasting power and sillage."

From Bois de Jasmin - "Since Noir Exquis is meant for both men and women, it doses sugar lightly and instead emphasizes the woody, balsamic layers. At first, it’s earthy and nutty, hinting at its patchouli and coffee soon to follow, but there are enough floral accents to brighten up the darkness. Based on the name, I expected something heavy and rich, but Noir Exquis is unexpectedly radiant."

From Kafkaesque - "What fascinated me was how, from afar, the scent trail wafted a definite marrons glacés note. Up close, it smells more like a nutty, almost chocolate-y, truffle-ish funk which has iced vanilla slathered on top so heavily as a glaze that it obscures much of its character. But from a distance… my word, it’s clear marrons glacés! It’s layered with a plush creaminess that almost smells coffee’d at times, and lies above a base that wafts a clear, smoky sandalwood note right from the start. The whole thing is then splattered with a few drops of boozy brandy, then nestled in an ambered cocoon."
