Description

L'Artisan Tea for Two was created by the talented Olivia Giacobetti and launched in 2000.  Notes are bergamot, star anise, tea, cinnamon, ginger, spices, gingerbread, honey, vanilla, leather and tobacco. This was discontinued for a while, and the entire fragrance community had the sadz.  They brought it back in 2015! Rejoicing. This is a gorgeous tea scent - warm and smokey with spices.  Whether you are new to tea fragrances or love them already, this is one you absolutely have to try to measure everything else against it.  It is very much real tea, but has that lovely Giacobetti touch where there is something other worldly to it.

Notes are bergamot, star anise, tea, cinnamon, ginger, spices, gingerbread, honey, vanilla, leather and tobacco. This is from the older bottle with the brown Tea for Two label.

Reviews of L'Artisan Tea for Two

From Bois de Jasmin - "or me, its autumnal character is accented by the associations with the prolonged tea times that accompany cool weather in Eastern Europe. The memories of dark caravan tea, cherry preserves and honey bread, of dimly lit dinning room and of heated political debates unfold like a beautiful scroll as the fragrance dries down."

From Perfume Posse Tea Perfume Guide - "Tea for Two ... combines cinnamon, ginger, smoked tea, honey, vanilla and guaiacwood to make this beautifully balanced sweeti’ish tea.  I’m not entirely sure it should go in the sweet group, but there is enough honey and vanilla to soften the smoky darkness of the tea that it’s just going here ... and would like to put it in every category."

From Olfactoria's Travels - "At this time of year Tea for Two contains everything I crave. Imagine it’s a cold Friday in November and you’re escaping the city with your other half until Monday. You’re in the car listening to the rain hammer the roof as you turn onto the gravel drive of a country hotel a couple of hours outside of London. You and your partner enter the warmth of the lobby and find you are just in time for afternoon tea. You sink into leather chairs beside a crackling fireplace. Laid before you on a pristine white tablecloth is a pot of piping hot tea, with a jar of honey to add sweetness and a china plate of pastries and spicy gingerbread."

    Smoky spicy library!

I love this scent, it smells faintly smoky and spicy and it makes me feel like I'm studying in a library with a woodfire going and a nice pot of tea.

    Smells like Jagermeister on me

This literally smells like I've been smoking and doing Jag bombs all night. Nope!

    Not the same

When I was in Paris a few years ago I got samples including Tea for Two. After trying it at home, I loved it. Was so sorry they discontinued it. And I was too slow to find a bottle. When it was brought back, I wondered if it would be the same. I ordered a sample and hoped. But, to me, the new one is quite different. I couldn't love it. However, I haven't heard anything about formula changes, or changes in ingredients.

    A very unusual fragrance

I really like wearing this fragrance. What I smell the most is cinnamon and a tobacco scent. It does last quite a while on me. I liked it so much, I just purchased a full bottle of it because I know that this will be a favorite for a long time. My 8ml decant will be my travel bottle.

    Earl grey tea

This smells like smoky earl grey tea, which is my favorite kind of tea, so I love it. When I'm cold this warms me right up, like a fluffy blanket fresh from the dryer. I wish that they would bring it back! It lasts about 5 hours on my skin.

    Comfy and Cozy

What a shame this was discontinued! There are few scents with such a big dose of honey and tobacco that are this easy to wear. It is downright edible. I only have a 1ml sample and I sure wish I had more to spray with abandon! The only other fragrance that has a tobacco so accessible is Serge Luten's Fumerie Turque, and sadly it is only sold outside of the US.

    Smokey leather jacket

I ordered a sample of Tea for Two because I was both intrigued by the name and wanted to try a perfume that was very much out of the ordinary for me - someone who likes florals and greens. I don't detect much black tea until the perfume has completely dried down by which time the heady smokey leather of the top notes has sadly dissapeared. The intensity of the first spray is incredible, the smokey notes are strong and delicious. As the smoke disperses the perfume becomes warm and comforting, like being a old English pub in Winter and in the end what you're left with on your skin is what the perfume is named after.
