Description

Le Labo Oud 27 is a deep Oriental fragrance.  It was the first fragrance they released after the initial creation with several releases from this house. It was also their first oud fragrance. The oud in this does open strong, but it does not go into really challenging areas that some ouds do.  It remains balanced with wood and spices.  A hard-core oud lover will find it to have some oud Training Wheels on it, but if you want a great oud fragrance without the long-term skank, this hits that middle ground really nicely.

Notes of Atlas cedar, incense, patchouli, saffron, black pepper, gaiac wood and agarwood. It is an eau de parfum, edp.

Reviews of Le Labo Oud 27

From Basenotes - "The opening of Oud 27 is as one might expect: agarwood skank and little else. This isn't the real deal so there is little of the borderline-offensive fecal quality or murky depth of actual oud tincture, but the crotch smell so many Westerners complain about is in full swing (pun intended), and is followed by a bit of saffron."

From Perfume Smellin' things - "Oud is not immediately apparent as the star of this show. The initial blast is woody and rather leathery, almost tarred in the vein of their Patchouli 24. There's also immediate cedar, sweetened with a lovely saffron note and a fair bit of skank. This one packs a punch, adding in ambered heat, and is sure to be polarizing until the opening calms to the post-coital woody drydown. The Oud is more a unifying theme than a stand-out ingredient for me and that's a good thing; it's always discernible, but at sexy whisper rather than a hoarse shout."

It stinks so good! It's observing a car wreck but cannot look away. Untamed.

    Fantastically strange

I'm a guy. I tried this on one cool spring day at the Le Labo store in NYC, and decided that it would be the second scent I've purchased ... their Rose 31 being the first. I flew back home and couldn't wait to use it. On a much warmer day, I put some on, and it actually made me sick to my stomach! It's incredibly powerful, and I had to wash it off. I thought I had made a big mistake, but I tried it again many months later on a cold fall day and loved it. It's amazing stuff, but only for special occasions ... and for me, only in cool weather.
