The Strange South
Libertine Fragrance Gilded a unisex woody spicy fragrance launched in 2020. The perfumer is Joshua Smith. From the brand - "Our mouths sticky with spices and sweets. We whisper small prayers as our bodies touch. Earthly pleasures made holy through will and belief. Profane pleasures wrapped in gold." This is a gorgeous spicy little bit sweet scent that wraps you up in its scented embrace.
Notes of cardamom, cinnamon, olibanum, immortelle, brown sugar, orange blossom, woods and opoponax. This is the perfume oil.
Libertine Fragrances are a small Canadian independent brand, small batch.
Colognoissuer - "When I want more from immortelle, I just want a perfume which doesn’t try to hide the maple syrup quality of it. In Gilded Mr. Smith surrounds it with ingredients which are meant to amplify it. Right from the start the combination of dried brush and maple syrup indicative of immortelle rises. In the early moments green cardamom and cinnamon provide some energy keeping it lighter. Orange blossom coaxes the sweet side back to the fore for opopanax and a brown sugar accord to elevate it to new heights. A bit of soothing light woods adds the finish."
Fragrantica - "Gilded is like a thick blanket of electrical fuzz, and I mean that very positively. Spicy, vaguely metallic in places, warm and sweet in a rough, burnt sugar kind of way. This is the third Libertine frag I've tried and they've all been completely delightful."
Fragrantica - "This perfume plunged me right back to my undergraduate memories of being awoken on an Indian night train to a man selling me piping hot chai in a dixie cup, on my way from Goa to Mumbai. Milky, spicy, warm, metallic. Absolutely delicious, and lasts forever."
