Louis Vuitton Nuit de Feu was released in 2020, created by Jacques Cavallier. Nuit de Feu means "night of fire." Notes of white incense, black incense, natural leather and oud wood.
From the brand - "In the dark of night, scents of incense rise from the shadowy hollows in the dunes. Plunged into the icy night, the desert seems frozen under an endlessly star-studded sky. In the heart of this darkness, a camp fire is crackling, its dancing flames warm the travelers, its smoke curling upwards into the sky. This moment, this scent of eternity, has inspired the Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud to create a vibrant tribute to incense, a sacred scent revered down the ages and across cultures. It is the signature ingredient in Nuit de Feu, with three exceptional essences in its trail. Softened by an exclusive infusion of natural leather, and glorified by a powerful musk accord, the incense molds the mystical scrolls of oud wood into a perfume that resonates with the history of the world."
Louis Vuitton is a French luxury fashion company - famous for their gorgeous and distinctive bags and the LV monogram. Founded in 1854, it was folded into LMVH, which has the brands of Moet et Chandon, Hennessy and Louis Vuitton.
Colognoisseur - "It opens with the smoky austere resin of Somalian incense. This always feel like tendrils of fragrant smoke whenever it shows up in a perfume. No different here. It is this which sets the idea of a brazier burning. Over the next few minutes a classic refined leather accord worthy of Louis Vuitton meshes with oud. If you’re expecting powerhouse dial it back by half. It isn’t ethereal but it isn’t bowl you over either. As these three keynotes come together it is how I imagine a brazier in the Middle East to smell. It ends with a gentle suite of animalic musks picking up on all three of the keynotes."
Persolaise - "In Nuit De Feu, he takes a superb frankincense note – as though plucking an angel from the dome of a Florentine cathedral – and filters it through precisely the sort of feral, enigmatic, leathery animalics we’ve come not to expect from the Vuitton catalogue. And then he leaves well enough alone. As someone once said, 'Burn, baby, burn.'"
Basenotes - "The opening has a close relationship to Tauer's L'Air du Desert Moracain but the mid notes reveal a hit of something like Dior Leather Oud. These two elements (LDDM & Leather Oud) are held together with a Roja Dove Amber Oud type scent. When I see white incense and black incense in the notes list, is the white woods incense - sandalwood, palo santo, cedar - mixed with black amber (frankincense, labdanum & birch tar). The results are a smooth and deep warmth of penetrating amber leather incense with a touch of smoke. This sounds heavy but no, it's wrapped up with a carefully finished glow that feels refined and well honed. "
