Very feminine and a bit unexpected
I love perfume, but I love makeup way more, so when I saw this fragrance on Sephora.com, I was intrigued. The notes sounded a little iffy to me, as I am still a novice when it comes to fragrance in many ways, so I came here to order a sample. Curiosity fueled the purchase, but my goodness this perfume really did knock my socks off. It is lush without being heavy, feminine without being overly floral, powdery without smelling dry or dusty or old, and soft without just fading into the background. It definitely does have a waxy lipstick kind of smell to it, but it is not as prominent as you'd think given the name; instead, it is just the idea of lipstick nestled there on a makeup table overflowing with luxurious, beautiful products. I previously steered very far away from orris, violet, and anything described as "powdery", but now I am reconsidering my hardline stance against that family of fragrances due to how expertly balanced Lipstick On is.
