Ormonde Jayne Sampaquita was launched in 2004, created by the line's owner and founder, Linda Pilkington. Sampaquita is another name for Sambac jasmine, which means in Tagalot "I promise you." Citrus and other notes keep this light and airy, not indolic or heavy. It is the perfect scent. As is quoted in one of the reviews below about Sampaquita - “It’s odd, like the heart takes wing and leaves no base that you can find, but it’s still anchored to you.”
From Olfactoria's Travels - "Sampaquita starts with a fresh and bright citrus laced fruit accord thanks to lychee, then segues into a floral medley that for me is dominated by water lily and freesia, with only a little jasmine that is held in check by its floral colleagues, which is absolutely fine with me.The drydown is lovely, an earthy, reedy, vegetal musk, that builds a perfect complimentary backdrop to the fresh, never wilting flowers."
From Perfume Posse - "Eight hours later I´m still floating in a subtle, alluring garden of pleasure. It has this weird, shape-shifting effect: I CANNOT smell it on my skin, no matter how hard I try. And yet… it lives all around me. Cribbing from an email Patty sent me: 'It’s odd, like the heart takes wing and leaves no base that you can find, but it’s still anchored to you.' And that, my perfumed friends, is just about the perfect description of this fragrance."
From Bois de Jasmin - "Sampaquita is as refreshin as a sip of lemonade on a hot summer day. It makes me feel rejuvenated and refreshed. The top notes are a Venetian lace of citrus notes, lychee, green leaves and white petals. Then the lemony melody softens into a floral medley. Here, water lily note is what I notice the most, paired with the spring-like brightness of freesia and the lush richness of jasmine sambac. The dry down is pleasantly earthy and musky."
