Babe was meant to evoke "the image of a beautiful woman in an exciting career, into sports, active and interested in romance and all that, too."

It is one of the most beloved fragrances of the era and was marketed to women ages 16-30. Model Margaux Hemingway, just 21 at the time (and grand-daughter of Ernest Hemingway), signed a million dollar contract to be the face of Babe. At the time, the deal was said to be the largest advertising contract ever involving a female personality. She helped to sell $50 million worth of products for Faberge with their Babe line.

In 1984, a new campaign was headed by Kathy Smith who signed a contract with Faberge as its health and fitness director. She personified the company's image of Babe in their print ads. "I represent the woman on the go in business and emotionally too, a woman unafraid of adventure."
 
Babe was the winner of a 1977 FiFi Award for Women's Fragrance of the Year - Broad Appeal (Popular Appeal) and one for Best Advertising Campaign for Women's Fragrance.
 
Babe was discontinued in 1992 but in 2015, it was relaunched by Beauty Brand Development and is available from the U.K.
