Chantilly is an oriental/floral chypre fragrance for women that was launched in 1941. Created by Marcel Billot, it was named after the famous Chantilly lace and is still beloved today by both young and old. Chantilly came about because Houbigant wanted to make a fragrance that was upscale but also one that was priced at a point where everyone could purchase it because during the war, finances for many were strained. When it was launched in 1941 it was an almost immediate hit. It goes on like a powdery oriental but dries down into a dark chypre making it a standout. It is so well-blended that no notes are dominant and it has incredible longevity.

During the mid 1990s, Chantilly was sold to Dana, but was able to retain the name of Houbigant. A lawsuit followed where Houbigant accused Dana of selling a watered-down version of Chantilly and also accused them of selling the formula to unlicensed manufacturers. Then in 2000, a reformulated version of Chantilly came back on the market.

The current version is distributed by Dana Classic Fragrances.

This is the original eau de cologne version of the fragrance.
