An excerpt from a review on Basenotes:

This is actually a ridiculously awesome scent and composition, dated as all hell yes but very well constructed. This scent stumps me as it's complex and just hard to explain. You have to love patchouli though to get on with this as this is a patchouli dominant creation. It's the patchouli/hay/musk combination in this that makes it very unique to the nose. The hay makes the patchouli musty and stale like but in the best way imaginable. This is a musky scent. There's a soapiness from the jasmine flower that runs throughout and it's also a very resinuous scent as well thanks to a healthy slug of labdanum and amber. There's this wetness to this as well and also a subtle sweetness from the vanilla in the drydown which counteracts all of that bitterness as well as a mild incense effect. There's also a woodiness from the vetiver and the honey note in this comes and goes that smells really awesome.

This is a full bodied composition, one of those creations that completely fills up your nose. It's heavy and bold, thick and robust but never over the top. Oleg Cassini definitely lives up the 80's powerhouse genre without that obnoxious attitude that usually proceeds.

This fragrance usually gets pretty pricey on eBay and in my honest opinion, it's worth it, especially if you love patchouli, vintage perfumes as well with quality ingredients and a dynamic scent pyramid. You really cannot lose with this one. The scent pyramid is balanced, everything smells natural and the ingredients used are fantastic. There's also a nice leathery castoreum accord in this which it's very real and slightly animalic. Awesome scent, especially if you love patchouli and vintages for men. Under rated and one of the best, smoothest patchouli scents ever created.

An advertisement read:

Jovan introduces the signature fragrances of Oleg Cassini. "Of all my creations the most exciting are these...my fragrances. Because they capture the most sensuous, memorable moments of my life. Her fragrance is delicate and beautiful. His...dangerously masculine. Wear one. Give one. And create your own most memorable moments."

Created by Cassini to be worn by some of the world's most beautiful people. Presented to Jovan to be worn by some of the world's smartest.

It is interesting to note that Oleg Cassini won a $16 million lawsuit against Jovan in 1988. A Federal Court in Manhattan decided that Jovan should pay Mr. Cassini $10 million for breach of licensing and $1 million for fraud. The civil jury also decided that Richard Meyer, president of Jovan, should pay $5 milion for fraud. Mr. Cassini had brought a $24 million suit against Jovan for failing to promote his products properly and for selling them at discount stores such as Caldor's and K-Mart, rather than at department stores like Bloomingdale's and Macy's. Don Kriendler, Mr. Cassini's attorney, said that under a 1979 contract, Jovan was given exclusive license to market Cassini fragrances worldwide, except for Italy. It was not about the money, Mr. Cassini told the jury, emphasizing that his reputation was at stake.

Oleg Cassini for Men has been discontinued.

We are decanting out of an unopened, boxed original bottle (frosted) of the cologne version of this fragrance.
