Woman is classified as an oriental fragrance based on the H&R Guide. Spicy, warm and slightly animalic and even though it is named Woman, this fragrance has a bit of a masculine edge to it. Woman won a FiFi Award in 1978 for Women's Fragrance of the Year - Broad Appeal (Popular Appeal).
Jovan created Man and Woman fragrances in bottles that fit together.
An advertisement from 1977 reads:
Man by Jovan. Woman by Jovan. So different, they don't just say who are you. They say what you are. Sheltered in shapes as classic as a curve. Bottles as explosive, as potent, and as memorable as the fragrances within. Woman by Jovan. The ultimate fragrance. For her. Total femininity. A cologne concentrate that is intensely floral. It communicates intimately. Subtly. Beautifully. And, just as it is in real life. Man and Woman comes in different forms and sizes.
Their advertising tag lines were:
What a man wants from woman, Jovan created.
In the beginning there was only one man and one woman. Now there still is.
An excerpt from a review on Basenotes:
It is a complex and bewitching scent, sexy and womanly, and it smells unlike anything else out there. This drugstore beauty is one that I always have on hand.
We are decanting from an unopened original bottle of the perfume version of the fragrance.
