RETRO Yardley Oh! de London Splasher
Year Introduced: 1962 - Feminine
Notes: Top notes of violet, bergamot, sage and chamomile; middle notes of geranium, clove, rose petals, violet, lily-of-the-valley, ylang-ylang, nutmeg and heliotrope; and base notes of sandalwood, styrax, cedar, vanilla, oakmoss and vetiver
Oh! de London is a bright, sparkling floriental that dries down to a mellow and creamy base with floral notes woven throughout.
This was one of THE fragrances of the 1960s. This one is near to impossible to find and we have a never-opened bottle in its original box that we are decanting from.
From one of their magazine ads:
You may have a little less money this year, but you have every bit as much love. So Yardley has gathered together delicious, fragrant soaps, talcs, and colognes into gift sets for under $5. (We also have many more gifts – some for more, some for less.) Come in soon to your favorite drug or department store. And choose the Yardley gifts that are best for the people you most want to hug.
It advertised a set of Oh! De London Cologne and Soap for $2.95. Oh to have known then what we know now and buy up all the Oh! de London and retire off the profits!!
Oh! de London was discontinued by Yardley but was purchased at some time by Tuvache who still offers it for sale. It is nothing like the original.
This is the original "splasher" version of the fragrance which I assume is an after-bath or lighter version than cologne.
