Description

Serge Lutens Sa Majeste La Rose is a beautiful rendition of rose, with honeyed wood notes with a little green. This is a dewy rose and in the Floral Green fragrance group.

Reveiws of Serge Lutens Sa Majeste La Rose from noses that may or may not sniff like your nose.

from perfumeposse - "Sa Majeste la Rose (2000)  – Happy rose, not smutty like its older sister, Rose de Nuit."

from  boisdejasmin - "The honeyed sweetness, amplified by vanilla and oriental balsams, is the main theme of Sa Majesté la Rose. The guaiacwood with its smoky rose scent elegantly continues the rose melody into the late drydown. The sweet, rich facets are contrasted so successfully with the bright, crisp rose and geranium notes that the fragrance maintains its vibrant, uplifting character without becoming overly heavy or languorous. While I usually do not mind either one of these qualities, the beauty of Sa Majesté la Rose is in its clarity. It is a fragrance that easily goes from morning to evening, from office to the party, and in whatever setting I wear it, it feels like a perfect ornament."

    Green fresh rose

This is very different than many other SL perfumes in its relative simplicity and freshness. (Rose de Nuit seems like the signature SL rose to me.) It's beautiful, though, clear and strong and never sour on me (my problem with some roses). The green is thorny in an interesting way. A really like this a lot

    Rose Majeste

This is a deep rose scent. However, for the money, I prefer EL Knowing. I like Serge Luten fragrances, but they don't last long on me.

    It isn't complex, but lovely

I actually layer SL Jeax de Peaux with this scent and the two add nice complexity to one another.

    A decent rose scent

This is a very serviceable rose scent. It's the second I've tried by Lutens, and I'm afraid I'm not a fan. They seem to lack complexity. In this case, I get a loud scent that practically screams ROSE for about 4 hours and then nothing. The sillage is good while it lasts. I am glad that I sampled it (maybe to dispel the Lutens mystique in my own mind), but I wouldn't purchase a bottle.
