Slumberhouse Mond was released in 2021, an 8-year project of gathering a stunning autumnal palette of interesting and unique raw materials. This is one of the longest-to-put-together perfume projects from Slumberhouse. And one of the most classically beautiful and rich fall fragrances I've smelled.
Notes of honey, rubescent spices, morello cherry & sapwood, quarender apple peel, accords of mavrodaphne & marchpane, chicory, pipe tobacco casing tincture (amaretto, plum, vanilla), balsam incarnadine, pillowy amber notes, sandalwood, raspberry, guaiacwood, foin coupe bordeaux accord, pumpkin & cream.. This is the extrait.
Josh Lobb is a self-taught perfumer out or Portland, Oregon, who has an incredible instinct for creation and construction of notes. They describe their brand as "Slumberhouse is a boutique cologne label in the heart of Portland, OR; created and inspired by urban and street culture, art, film and music – especially the new school of hiphop and graffiti artists. We are a group of young gents who march to our own beat, embracing an absolute disregard for other brands, trends and marketing cliches. Slumberhouse represents an unequivocal love for the art of fragrance making.
Fragrantica - "Honeyed milky spice tea for the top notes which start for around 2 hours, very smooth amber in the drydown. If fall is your favourite season, this will be your favourite fragrance. It has everything you want in an authentic gourmand fragrance. I start longing hot drinks after smelling this. That’s the scale of art in this perfume. Love the drydown."
Fragrantica - "similarly to mitsouko, mond has a strong resemblance to decaying leaves, semi-sweet and earthy, reminding me of jumping into leaf piles as a child, not caring if i ended up with dirt and spiders all over myself! tragically, the decaying leaves do not persist for the entire duration of the longevity, but it is beautiful while it lasts. in the end, my skin is left with sweet burley tobacco and a faint, warm whisper of honey."
Fragrantica - "Mond is a difficult fragrance to review for the scent association it conjures however with all that aside it’s truly a remarkable composition. Imagine the brown tobacco of Jeke filtered through a lens of apple cider and spiced rum. The first 20 minutes showcases a fresh and airy take on tobacco while still retaining the core Slumberhouse DNA. Namely Kiste, Jeke and Baque. However Mond calls to mind the powdery hay and tobacco leaf of Chergui all rolled up in bitter, spicy medicinal herbs with a backbone of pancake drizzled sandalwood."
