Thierry Mugler A*Men Pure Tonka was created by Jacques Huclier and released in 2016. Part of the A*Men limited edition of fragrances. This one is focused on tonka with notes of tonka, lavender, cocoa, patchouli, coffee, licorice and vanilla. Rich tonka and coffee, given a charming hint of lavender to keep it from being too dark
This fragrance is discontinued, but probably one of the highest rated of this limited edition line with a 4.25 out of 5 starts rating on Fragrantica. It is an eau de toilette, edt.
From Fragrantica - "The tonka, coffee, cacao notes are very realistic like you stand above a hot mochaccino! I was waiting for something very sweet with a strong vanilla note but the vanilla here comes like burned caramel, the cacao has a powdery quality and a dark sexy vibe."
From The Candy Perfume Boy - "In the dry down, the caramelised sugar subdues allowing the tonka bean to soften and display a beautifully complex wave of marzipan that is velvety soft. This facet is unfurled in the same way a peacock showcases the full glory of its plumage: slowly but surely and with a cocky stance. At this point, the tonka melts seamlessly into a bed of warm leather and chocolate-covered woods, making for an entirely smooth finish to what starts as a turbulent and attention-seeking fragrance filled with machismo. A*Men Pure Tonka is quite the ride and at times, one may want to get off the train and run as fast as they can in the opposite direction, but at least this is one journey that most certainly makes an impression!"
From Basenotes - "Pure Tonka is one of the most edible fragrances I have ever come across. It literally makes my mouth water. It's just pure coffee shop. Coffee, sugar, syrup, caramel, waffles. It's all here. Funnily enough, it never becomes over sickly. Probably my favorite Gourmand."
