Description

Tom Ford Cafe Rose (coffee rose) has notes of rose, saffron, pepper and coffee. Noted to be very spicy and full-bodied.

Tom Ford's Jardin Noir (night garden) series for his Private Blend Collection was released in the fall 2012. He told the New York Times, when asked about this new series, "'When you showcase their [the flower's] darker and less innocent aspects, flowers can become so thrilling and beautiful, they could almost ruin you. That was the sensation I was after."

Tom Ford Private Blend has released a prodigious number of fragrances, ranging from the amazing to the weird to the slightly kinky. Not all of them are masterpieces, but they usually are as interesting as Tom Ford himself.

Reviews of Tom Ford Cafe Rose

From Bois de Jasmin - "One spray of Café Rose is enough to wrap me in its decadent richness. It has the vaguely exotic feel of Scheherazade’s boudoir, but it wouldn’t be out of place on Lauren Bacall in Dark Passage.  On skin this perfume smells like sandalwood shavings soaked in rose water. A dash of brown sugar and a few swirls of incense complete the picture. But within moments, the toasted notes unfold, and that’s the coffee part of Café Rose. The coffee is a delicate whiff, as if you were to crush a couple of grains between your fingers, but it’s pronounced enough to give a toasty, warm sensation to the fragrance. Don’t expect the richness of espresso–coffee notes are notorious for being hard to use in large amounts."

From Reddit - "Over an hour in, and everything has melded into a velvety-soft elixir of deliciousness. Notes are a bit harder to pick apart at this time, they have just mixed so perfectly, but every once in a while little wafts of incense, coffee, saffron, and sandalwood hit my nose in just the right way to be individually perceptible. The notes appear and disappear, and reappear again in different combinations. The saffron gives the rose an wonderful dustiness, and the smokiness combined with the coffee is simply exquisite."

    Love this!

The coffee in this is very light to me, after about 60 seconds or so, I have trouble even detecting it. To me this pure, predominant rose... But no wallflower rose. It's powerful, but no too green or painful. It's delicate without being wishy-washy. Someone described it at a wild, wet rose just pulled from the dirt at twilight, or something along those lines - and I'd say that's a good analogy. Opens sharp and softens out after some time. I think I get a bit of menthol or camphor in the middle, and dry down remains sweet yet deep, dusk rose. I find it quite feminine. I don't like to wear fragrances that lean masculine, typically. It's beautiful, and wonderfully done, in my novice opinion. Longevity is good, sillage is decent. After being disappointed with a fair few TFs, from both private and signature lines, it's good to find a few that really work for me. Still I find the cost of private labels to be too high. Half it and I'd give this a full 5. Plan to keep a 5 or 10 ml vial in my collection for the foreseeable future.

    Beautiful, Soft, Exotic Rose

I often find rose scents too strong for me, but this is lovely. It's a soft, exotic rose that peeks through from the background of incense and amber. It's smoky and delicious.

    A unique scent

absolutely loved it! I carry it around with me in my coat pocket while I work and always smell nice. Very unique scent which I like. Will for sure buy some more once I get close to running out. A bit on the expensive side because I am ordering it online from Canada, but worth it.
