Description

Io Non Ho Mani Che Mi Accarezzino Il Volto (There Are No Hands To Caress My Face) was inspired by Mario Giacomelli’s photographic series of young priests. Giacomelli took the beginning of a poem by Father David Maria Turoldo as the name for his photography series in the early 1960s. The photos were taken between 1961 and 1963 in Senigallia on Italy's Adriatic coast. (I love writing the descriptions for fragrances - I have learned SO much!)

The fragrance opens with petitgrain and bergamot, which lifts to reveal the heart of the fragrance which is a blend of  cedar, cinnamon, clary sage, ylang ylang and resins. The drydown evokes the Italian seminary with notes of sandalwood, incense, benzoin and warm tobacco. Giacomelli took photographs of the priests smoking cigars and when the rector saw these images Giacomelli was prevented from ever photographing at the seminary again.

Io Non Ho Mani Che Mi Accarezzino Il Volto features notes of petitgrain, bergamot, galbanum, myrrh, cedar, geranium, clary sage, cinnamon, styrax, ylang-ylang, incense, benzoin, tonka bean, tobacco, amber and sandalwood. It is an extrait de parfum.
