Balenciaga Quadrille was first introduced in 1955 and is a spicy chypre floral fragrance.  A warmed amber, beuatifully balanced, it is a throwback to a much more elegant, classic time.  Notes:  Notes of plum, peach, lemon, jasmine, clove, cardamom, amber, patchouli, oakmoss and musk.  A gorgeous scent in the edt, eau de toilette.

Reviews for Balenciaga Quadrille Vintage EDT

From Fragrantica:

"Warm with amber, rich with distinct resins modifying the labdanum with minute curls of incense graced with subtle spices.  At once glamorous, restrained, and exotic"

"Reminds me of pale green satin and brown velvet, treacle and wooden mannequins."

"Smells exactly like one of those dark, smokey, sexy film noir movies from the 1940s."

From Parfumo - "Balenciaga has a fine history of releasing outstanding compositions, and vintage Quadrille shows off what the house can do at its best. "

From MakeupAlley:

"explodes into a to-die-for clove/carnation/cardamomy fragrance that has something in common with Guerlain's oh-so edible Guet-Apens. It's spicy, vaguely gourmand, but where a Guerlain becomes sweet, this becomes ambery and Oriental, a far-away exotic scent that is still somehow feminine and reserved."

From the Non-Blonde - "Quadrille is everything you'd expect from a vintage Balenciaga. it's elegant and mysterious, dark but not weird. It smells like a spiced plum liqueur, rich and smooth, but not foody or too sweet. After all, this it was created before the yummy school of perfumery took over (compare to the fig-vanilla pudding of Cristobal). Instead, it's beautifully balanced, velvet-like, with a well-dressed floral heart and a somewhat dirty musk drydown that sits close to the skin and lingers between one and her cashmere sweater. It's a great scent for daydreaming about different times and places, picturing yourself wearing a Balenciaga hat and coat to a Paris cafe."
