Description

Byredo La Tulipe was launched in 2010, created by Jerome Epinettee and Ben Gorham.  Constructed as the idea of the tulip, it has a dewy morning mist quality, with notes of rhubarb, cyclamen, freesia, tulip, green notes, wood and vetiver.  This fragrance whispers spring.  It's not heavy in the least, but it surrounds you with light. "I have always loved tulips and decided to create a fragrance that spoke of the whole idea of the flower.  To do this I wanted to capture its shy characteristic - and combine that with the expressive physicality it bears."  – Ben Gorham

Founded in 2006 in Sweden Byredo perfume's creator Ben Gorham (former basketball player) wanted to create perfumes of quality while keeping their production in Sweden.  Gorham had been fascinated with fragrance much of his life. When he meet Pierre Wulff, a perfumer, Byredo came into being.  Currently Gorham works with Olivia Giacobetti and Jerome Epinette to create his line of perfumes

Byredo La Tulipe reviews

From Basenotes: "For a fleeting moment in the opening, the rhubarb note is very prominent, but then it calms down & combines with the freesia note to form a greenish, cool & fresh floral accord. Although it's not exactly natural-smelling, this accord actually produces a rather clever & beautiful abstract idea of a bunch of spring flowers. The fragrance is linear, but very diffusive, & lasts a good seven hours before fading. This is not a challenging fragrance, but is most enjoyable as a thing of simple beauty, & sometimes that's all one needs to put a smile on one's face."

Get the Gloss - "an elegant companion for the natural beauty, peeking out from behind long lashes like the very first tantilising tulips of Spring. The fresh fragrance lingers throughout the day and is refreshing but never overpowering. If the tropical heatwave is proving too much to handle this summer, try hitting the shade with Byredo."

From Makeup Alley - "This is one of the lightest, prettiest, wearable NON SWEET florals I've ever encountered. Rather linear, but clean, neat, and acts like a soloflore despite the other notes. I get only a creamy, tulip flavor from this."

From Huffpost:  "La Tulipe reminded me of the month of May: Lilacs, sun-warmed cotton and new leaves."

    Light lovely

I love Byredo's line. Tulipe one of my favorites. Lady like, lasts, liquid silk. Smells wonderful. No heavy overpowering just there.

La Tulipe is lovely and easy to wear

La Tulipe has that green and fresh scent of flowers fresh from the florist. It's a fairly gentle fragrance, stays close to the skin for most of the time, but is very refreshing and uplifting. Very spring green scent.

    Amazing for summer

Although it is very fruity, it has a green component that keeps it from going over the top fruity. It's the perfect spring/summer fragrance. Longevity is good, sillage isn't super strong.
