Description

From Memo's marketing information: "It's one of those icy, biting mornings. The sun scarcely manages to break through the heavy grey clouds. The air is crisp and dry and the wind slips beneath my clothes. The north wind whips the grass that sticks to my boots. I walk into the stable and swing open the wooden tack room doors, freeing the burning scent of leather, wood, amber and honey. Its age-old odor stands out sharply in the frozen morning air. My horse whinnies softly. It's the smell of her freedom. The leather gathers in the wind, the grass warms with the wood. Irish Leather gallops off into the horizon.” Opening notes of juniper, pink pepper and clary sage whisk us away to the wild countryside, while the leather- sharp, well-worn and deeply animalic- gives us the barn, the saddle and the horse all at once.

MEMO co-founder John Molloy is understandably proud of his rural Irish upbringing and Irish Leather positively sings of Ireland's rustic beauty. Irish Leather is a unisex leather fragrance that launched in 2013. Created by Alienor Massenet it features notes of pink pepper, clary sage, juniper berry, green maté absolute, flouve, iris concrete, tonka bean absolute, leather, birch and amber accord.

MEMO IRISH LEATHER REVIEWS

Fragrantica: My new signature sent. This will be the standard I hold all the rest of my fragrances up to for everyday any occasion wear; until I find something better. I do not pick up on the tonka. I only get the juniper, mate and a hint of leather. It is a very well balanced and just does it for me. On my skin it lasts all day.

Fragrantica: I went to Bloomingdales in NYC recently and went to the Memo in search of a new signature scent. I gotta say, this brand is the first one I've come across where every single fragrance I tried, I wanted to get them all! But the one that stood out to me the most was the Irish Leather, it's bold but not too strong, it's masculine, and it's something I can see myself wearing every day. It mixes the "dark green" scent with the leather perfectly. It's very versatile, wear it during the day, at night for a date, any season will do but summer might be a bit too warm for this one but you can still pull it off. Sillage is moderate, which I think is a good thing. With a spray or two, it reaches just far enough for yourself and someone you wanna pull in for a hug or kiss to enjoy ;) The price tag is definitely up there, but the quality of this cologne is worth it, I believe.

LuckyScent: Beautifully blended horsey leather on a gently herbaceous, fougere-y, pastoral bed. The clary in this just sings, blending with the pink pepper, juniper and coumarin to make a beautiful round mezzo kind of note with just a touch of spicy effervescence. The horse (saddled) appears a little ways in but I don't find it all that animalic -- it's large but warm and comforting. I think this scent leans slightly masculine -- I would love to smell it on a man.
