Description

Serge Lutens Santal Majescule  A study of sandalwood, Serge Lutens did not want to do the traditional rose/sandalwood combination that everyone does. Opening a can of cocoa powder one night gave him the inspiration for the twist to this beautiful sandalwood scent. An innovative take on sandalwood, Santal Majuscule's charm lies in the contrast between the traditional fragrance with the unexpected.  Santal Majescule is in the Oriental Woody fragrance group.

Reviews of Serge Lutens Santal Majescule from noses that may or may not sniff like your nose.

from thenonblonde - "The rose note is the most surprising part in Lutens' Santal Majuscule. I mostly smell it later in the perfume's development, and I find it too wonderful for words. I'm not the biggest rose fan ever, but in this case I'm completely sold: this rose is smooth, sweet, with overtones of Turkish delight and a peachy pink quality that is all skin and seduction."

from boisdejasmin - "At first, Santal Majuscule smells very much like a Middle Eastern rose attar, a traditional distillation of rose and sandalwood, albeit a luminous and refined one. A hint of cinnamon and orange gives it a Turkish delight twist, while the musky sweetness of peach skin softens the woods. There is nothing obviously edible about the perfume, but a subtle gourmand suggestion gives Santal Majuscule an addictive quality. The impressive tenacity means that you will enjoy the fragrance well into the evening, but thanks to the pleasant dryness of woods in the drydown, it feels polished and radiant."

    Yummy cocoa

Lovely. Bought a full bottle. The gourmand warmth laced with a touch of dark is perfect in winter.

Please 'fume gods, send me a full bottle...

My ideal scent is one that offers me instant comfort and pleasure while maintaining a staunch weirdness. This is it. The sandalwood and rose are gorgeous and the dry cocoa accord is delightfully strange. I wouldn't call it gourmand. This scent brings the funk. And the siliage? Outstanding.

I got the smallest size because I figured that the cocoa note would be offputting to me. Im not into gourmands. I reordered a larger size to tide me over til I can get my hands on a full bottle. The cocoa kicks the sandalwood into dreamy deliciousness that isnt actually all that gourmand. It also reads very strongly as rose on me.

    sandal, sandal...

If u are a sandal note lover, you will definitely like this scent. It gives what it promises, not more, not less. I wore it for one day, and it was neither irritating, nor delighting. Strange, but for me, it was a way too simple, and it didn't remain in my memory on the next day. Moreover, it evaporates quite quickly, and that was not the way I expect a perfume to be. Simple, nice, pure old sandal... =)

    rose sandalwood

Delicious rosy sandalwood, and a great Lutens. The wood is predominat, and to my nose is quite close to the scent of the sandalwood bits that I have. I agree it is unisex, but I like very womanly scents and really enjoy wearing this one, maybe because the rose note, though light and sheer, is very well done and a bit addictive.

    Do not disappoint

theatricality of Lutens is served, the faithful followers to receive a huge box containing the sample. Sandalwood is not the spectacular Mysore but everything seems very wearable, with great length and very fresh. Even I think I like it better than Santal Blanc.

    Smitten at first Whiff

When I received my sample and smelled it for the first time I immediately ordered more. I was infatuated. I am not an experienced Perfumista so I do not know the correct terms to use. It smells familiar and exotic at the same time. Is this a unisex fragrance? I am a woman and I love wearing it,but I think I would also love this scent on a man. It smells like fall and a hike in the woods (in the best way). I love it.
