Guerlain Shalimar Souffle de Parfum was launched in 2014, created by Thierry Wasser. A beautiful modern interpretation of the original classic, Guerlain Shalimar, it has notes of lemon, bergamot, mandarin orange, orange blossom, jasmine sambac, Indian vanilla, Tahitian vanilla and white musk. This is the EDP, eau de parfum.
From the brand - "Shalimar Souffle de Parfum is like a perfumed caress. A light and enchanting Eau de Parfum with citrus fruits, jasmine, white musks and vanilla notes, revisiting the mythic Shalimar in a modern way. Once upon a time, four centuries ago, in India, there was a love that knew no bounds. For his beloved wife, the princess Mumtaz Mahal, the emperor Shah Jahan ordered the creation of the most luxurious gardens of Shalimar as a setting for their love. Later, he erected the Taj Mahal, a marvel admired by the entire world. This fabulous story inspired Jacques Guerlain to create an exquisitely seductive scent, the world’s very first ambery fragrance: Shalimar."
Fragrantica - "Souffle de parfum begins with lemon and vanilla, like a raffined vanilla-lemon ice cream for the opening, and the oriental part develops lightly, this is not a bomb at all, this is not surprising like the OG, it stays very elegant, complex and wearable too with a slight memory of the OG too. I must say that it is a love at first sniff, it has the Guerlain signature, for me there is something a bit woody and the pyramid of note seems more complex than what I see, but it must be the quality of ingredients that brings me elsewhere because there is this oriental twist in it but nicely done. Very beautiful, a bit mysterious and definitely unique."
Fragrantica - "A real beauty- this is my go to perfume when I’m in the office these days. It’s vanilla lemony sweet, but airy and creamy too. A nicely blended one with the always so sophisticated Guerlain DNA."
Fragrantica - "Oooh finally a Shalimar that works for me. It smells better on my skin than on the paper! The strong lemon punch of the original is dialed down. I smell lemony fresh citrus first, not sharp but juicy. Then after 2 minutes, it's rounded by sweet floral notes. Vanilla is still in the background, the sweet floral stays prominent for now. Enjoying this middle phase.
It's ethereal and pretty but great sillage. I can smell myself in this pretty cloud of lemony sweet flowers with a touch of spice. This is not oriental gourmand, but definitely oriental floral.
So beautiful!"
