Description

Tom Ford Oud Wood is one of the original 12 fragrances released in the Private Blend collection. This oriental spicey fragrance starts with a wrap of warmth, then a smoky blend and smooth finale. Cool spices and warm wood, wrapped in silky oud and vanilla.   Tom Ford launched M7 for YSL when he was there - a legendary fragrance that bombed when it was released because nobody was ready for it.  Now it is discontinued and hard to find and expensive when you do find it.  Tom Ford Oud Wood is Tom Ford's second attempt at M7, with much better results on marketing.

Reviews of Tom Ford Oud Wood

From Kafkaesque - "spiced, vanilla, vetiver, woody fragrance that simply happens to have some oud in it. It’s neither particularly sweet nor masculine. But it’s infinitely wearable, far from potent, very approachable, and utterly delicious at times."

From Now Smell This - "It's a dark-ish, earthy wood scent, as was M7, and the latter's bitter, almost medicinal undertone is still there (the notes for Oud Wood: rosewood, cardamom, Chinese pepper, oud, sandalwood, vetiver, tonka bean, vanilla and amber). It's lighter in Oud Wood though, and it doesn't last as long; overall, Oud Wood is a quieter fragrance, with the oud itself softened by the vanilla and other wood notes. It does have a nice bite to it, but it isn't nearly as heavily spiced as M7. If you almost liked M7 but found it a bit much, Oud Wood might be perfect."

From Temptalia - "Oud Wood does not remain spicy, though, as it is enveloped by the scent of an ambered sandalwood peeking through with an underlying touch of vetiver. There’s still a lingering of smoke, but it’s musky, sultry, and delectably woody. It smells luxe–rich and earthy–and reminds me a little of what sexiness might embody if it were a scent (to me)."

    Tom Ford Oud Wood

Tom Ford Oud Wood is one of the first buys for me in my new journey in perfumery. I like niche brand parfums and only less than 1% designer brand. Although, Oud Wood is more of a crowd pleaser. There is such a huge difference (mostly in quality in materials) in making of the product in niche brands. I’m not a snob, I just can’t wear designer colognes and my nasal sensories finds them offensive. Designer brands can be really harsh to my nose. All that’s been said about Oud Wood is true. There’s not much more to elaborate on. It’s one best fragrance scents I own. The longevity could stand to be better. That’s the only weakness of the fragrance I can think of. When I wear the fragrance, it’s warm and cozy. Comforting and reminds me of intimacy for some reason. It’s for versatile for several occasions. It’s not loud, but well spoken. Guaranteed to get compliments when wearing this smooth sauce. First time I wore OW, someone told me, “You smell nice.” I said, “Thanks, I didn’t take a bath.” Haha. This fragrance has Brazilian Rosewood listed as an ingredient in the heat notes, and I believe without a doubt this may be one of the unsung heroes of this frag. There’s lots of rosewood in this fragrance. I know that a good Rosewood essential oil smells fantastic on the dry down on a test strip. Rosewood by itself on test strip starts off by smelling a bit like dirty diapers and is a little off putting but goes on to smell beautiful-softer and sweeter. The other ingredients in OW obviously alleviate that early unwanted dirty smell in rosewood. That’s the beauty of perfumery and chemistry. I’m just guessing btw. Rosewood also rounds off any sharpness in the other heart notes Sichuan Pepper and Cardamom and lends the fragrance more body. Then there’s Tonka Bean, Vanilla, Vetiver, Sandalwood, and Amber; all of which are some of my most sought after aromas in a fragrance. What’s not to love? Scent 10, Longevity 6. It’s worthy of a purchased to me. Tom Ford Oud Wood is one of the first buys for me in my new journey in perfumery. I like niche brand parfums and only less than 1% designer brand. Oud Wood

Oud wood is a perfect introductory oud scent, with a perfect blend of woods that helps round everything out. Definitely worth the price if you can buy at around $100 or so. It is a light, subtle, masculine fragrance that I thoroughly enjoy, but wouldn't purchase at retail. It's not nearly as stout as many of the other fragrances in Tom Ford's private blend, and for that reason, feels like it belongs in his lesser-priced signature line, if only because of its lighter, less offensive nature.

    Classic Oud

This is a timepiece for me. Distinguishingly poised to make bold moves approaching self actualization again and again. You wear the city, it’s metallic sharp sweet oud wood!

    A clear win win

I love it, top five in my lineup for sure. Smells amazing medium- long lasting projects well but not a monster. Of the three tf's I've tried (other two being noir de noir & Costa azzurra) this one's head and shoulders above the others.

    yummy

I tried a lot of samples and quite a few of tom ford's. This one jumped out for me. Just love its sexy earthiness. My husband loves it too. I might agree with other reviewers that you need to re-apply after a couple of hours.

Forgiveness is the scent that the rose leaves on the heel that crushes it

Tom Ford Oud Wood is sexual despite being overpowering. With rich complex warm notes it is very well blended.Sophisticated, luxurious and classy an absolute sensual mix.Although pricey,it is definitely worth a try.

    Amazing! But ...

This is one of the most gorgeous fragrances I have ever tried. It is a sweet woody oud, with a hint of bluebells and clean laundry. In fact I would like it as a signature fragrance except for the fact that it doesn't last. Three hours or so and it's gone and it is far too pricey to keep spraying. I like it so much I've tried all the methods to help it last (mixing with a carrier oil, spraying it on wet skin etc). Sadly, none of them has increased its staying power. That is why I can only give it four stars. If it lasted, five stars would not be nearly enough.

    Best smell ever

This cologne is unisex and smells awesome. It's a scent kind of like the old Donna Karen Chaos.
