Description

Guerlain Samsara was created in 1989 by Jean Paul Guerlain. A nicely balanced floral over sandalwood and vanilla, and the EDT has a little more animalic and dark drydown.

Notes of jasmine, rose, narcissus, violet, orris, sandalwood, tonka, iris and vanilla.  A beautiful classic oriental. This is the eau de toilette verson of Guerlain Samsara.

Reviews of Guerlain Samsara EDT

From Bois de Jasmin - "The opening chords of bitter citrus and green buds set a sparkling prelude, which serves as an excellent counterpoint to the heady richness of jasmine and ylang-ylang. A dark streak of licorice gives a teasing gourmand sensation to the floral notes, while the coconut and vanilla sweetness lace the woody notes. Woven through its body are the references to the great Guerlain classics—the luscious almond warmth of L’Heure Bleue, the leathery narcissus of Vol de Nuit, the opalescent freshness of Chamade. Nevertheless, Samsara is so flashy and dramatic that it does not fit easily into the suave elegance of the classical lineup. On the other hand, it is so bold that the epithet of “grand parfum” fits it perfectly.

From Influenster - "I have Samsara in several versions - new EDP, new EDT, new Parfum, and vintage Parfum. This has the famed Guerlinade as a base and the most gorgeous sandalwood (especially the vintage) imaginable. It is definitely unisex, but I feel very womanly and sexy when I wear it in any version."

From Persolaise - "the passage of time has revealed it to be an assertive, immediately recognisable statement on a baroque style of perfumery that probably died with the 80s: a Taj-Mahal-sized marriage of white florals (mainly jasmine and ylang) with musks, vanilla and that controversial sandalwood note. Like human flesh as butter (and therefore better), it is creamy, decadent and carnal in that haughty manner only the finest French scents seem to pull off."

    A classic that disappointed me

I've read so many positive reviews of this perfume that I had high expectations, but when I dabbed it on a card all I could think of was men's deodorant! Disgusting! It was so overpowering I never even tried it on my skin. Glad I only paid $3 for a sample!

    layer them....

I was trying to get my nose to a place and time it had been before. I could not get it from any single form of the Samsara. I layered the parfum with the eau de and Voila!
