Saltburn Driftwood is a walk along the beach on a breezy day, watching the surfers flying along the cold North Sea waves. It was inspired by Saltburn, a small town at the top right hand corner of Yorkshire where Sarah McCartney of 4160 Tuesdays was born. It was built in Victorian times by Henry Pease, a Liberal MP, railway owner and peace campaigner, who wanted workers to have a place by the sea to visit for their holidays, but with no alcohol available and because of this, it remained small and unspoiled.
Saltburn Driftwood features notes of driftwood (created by using a toasty Brazilian vetivert essential oil, Dreamwood base, torchwood and Cashmeran velvet), cool sea breeze, rock pools (using Sarah's rockpool accord of Hedione, Veramoss and Calone) and yesterday's wave-washed campfire. It is an eau de parfum, edp.
4160 TUESDAYS SALTBURN DRIFTWOOD REVIEWS
Fragrantica: Smells very authentic for the concept! Unmistakably aquatic, yet much more unique and vivid than the average aquatic. There really is a vibe of rock pools and salt next to a cold ocean, but without feeling dour, and with the "waves washed over yesterday's campfire" somehow coming through too. I'm not a fan of aquatics or realistic beachy scents in terms of what I like to wear, but I highly recommend this if you're interested in an evocative, intriguing, salty rockpool oceanic scent! Unisex leaning slightly masculine to my nose.
Fragrantica: Never have I ever felt so completely consumed by a scent. Saltburn Driftwood gradually dug its wee, salty claws into my soul and it's not for shifting! It's the most beautifully addictive thing I've ever smelled. Words cannot express how much I NEED to be enveloped in this utterly glorious aroma. Saltburn Driftwood is like nothing I've ever smelled before. It feels perfectly balanced and constructed. I can't even find the words to describe how calm and comforted it makes me feel. It's like a bracing walk along a freezing cold seafront on New Year's Day, with the people you love best. I want it surrounding me at all times. I've built up a nice wee collection of fragrances this past year, but this is the only thing I really want to wear at the moment. I'm new to all the perfume patter (this is my first review), but I can confidently assure you that Saltburn Driftwood is flawless. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Perfection in perfumery from Sarah McCartney.
