Description

Although asphalt may seem like a strange thing to search out in a perfume, it does bring back good memories for a lot of people and there are those of us who really enjoy the smell. Asphalt, bitumen, macadam or blacktop can bring a flood of wonderful memories from when you were a kid. Lots of activities can be associated with hot asphalt including carnivals, amusement parks, auto racing, skateboarding, etc.

You will receive a 1/2ml sample (1ml sample vial filled half full) of each of the fragrances in this sampler. You also have the option of choosing a 1ml sampler.

Parfumerie Particuliere Black Tar Extrait de ParfumInspired by the feel of warm asphalt beneath your feet as you wander the beautiful and mysterious city streets of the Iztapalapa district in Mexico City to a dead end. A beautiful and mysterious woman appears, forbidden desires ... In a whispered roar she says the words Black Tar. Poisons have many forms, and these can linger even longer, even if they become weaker. With notes of cement, juniper, cade, tuberose, patchouli, gaiacwood and vetiver.

Masque Milano - Act I-IV - Times Square EDP - Bruno Jovanovic interpreted Times Square into a fragrance by combining three elements, so far-away from one another, which explain the irresistible fascination of this city-in-the-city: street food, uniting businessman and tourists; the prostitute with her vulgar perfume and the glossy lipstick; and the smell of tires and asphalt, engine oil and exhaust gas. Times Square features top notes of rose, violet and hazelnut; middle notes of osmanthus and tuberose; and base notes of sandalwood, storax and lignum vitae.

Jacques Zolty Havana Rain EDP - In Cuba, during summer, there’s a specific point when the scorching heat of the day is about to break. The clouds suddenly thicken, the light darkens and people come out in the street to look up at the sky. The air is filled with the smell of very hot asphalt, but within minutes the rain takes over. Havana Rain features top notes of fruity notes, birch and birch tar; middle notes of juniper berries, jasmine, pink pepper and cumin; and base notes of ambergris, labdanum and white musk.

Smell Bent Frankensmellie #s13#916 (The Fall) EDP - Inspired by a bicycle accident that Brent Leonesio had. His only scent memory of the day was the smell of the hot, smoky asphalt he landed on. The Fall is about fire and transformation – the change of wood into smoke and of Summer into Fall.

The Society of Scent Asphalt Noire or Noir[e] EDP - Created by Jean Claude Delville and inspired by the addictive vapors of asphalt, Asphalt Noir[e] features notes of birch tar, smoky leather, cardamom, narcissus absolute, cypriol (nagarmotha), tonka bean, dark amber and patchouli. Love it or hate it, everyone recognizes the smell of tar. Of course, it is a challenge to build a wearable fragrance from this raw ingredient but in perfumery, birch tar essential oil is used which is obtained from the bark of the tree. This is the central pillar here, a deep smoky and leathery presence, enhanced by the equally characteristic warmth of cardamom. As every beast needs its beauty, narcissus absolute comes to the rescue with its luxurious floral glow. The dive into darker matters continues with earthy tones of patchouli and cypriol and the bewitching orientalist fumes of amber and tonka bean.

4160 Tuesdays Freeway EDP - Sarah McCartney visited Scent Bar in Los Angeles one Summer’s day and stepped out onto the hot asphalt outside. A friend was just driving away, and the smell of his Maserati’s exhaust mixed with the scent of the orange blossom in the air and the tang of hot, melting asphalt inspired Sarah to create an urban take on orange blossom exclusively for Luckyscent, to help celebrate their 15th anniversary. The idea was to take the fresh, sugary brightness of orange blossom and sully it with a host of gritty, determinedly non-floral smells from an urban environment. Sarah used mandarin petigrain oil for its plummy citrus aroma but also for its fuel-like facet and the result is sweet orange blossom water spilled on hot tar. Dry woods, tobacco, and grassy cannabis notes dry out the tarry orange blossom until it smells more like old paper and less like a flower. A light, foamy vanilla froths around the dry, papery notes for a result that smells like eating a thimbleful of insanely rich, perfumery orange blossom gelato in an antique book store. Freeway features notes of mandarin, petitgrain, orange blossom, tobacco, rum, brandy, cannabis, woods and vanilla.

Xyrena Neon Sunset EDP - According to Xyrena's website: Neon Sunset is named after bright aromatics and cityscapes set amidst a backdrop of apocalyptic orange clouds caused by a preceding storm and metropolitan air pollutants. It is the definitive urban rain fragrance and was inspired by Xyrena perfumer Killian Wells’ bicoastal love of moody evening storms in New York City and Los Angeles. Designed to be as linear as possible, Neon Sunset is a dense, sweet and intoxicating fragrance featuring notes of ozone, phenolic tar and asphalt, earthy borneol, leather and musk and a floral accord of gardenia, heliotrope, acacia, ylang-ylang and indole, topped with a refreshing cucumber and red apple fruit accord, all polished with a finishing touch of aromatic Hedione.

Blackbird Perfumes Universal Supreme EDP - Universal Supreme is the absolute freedom of summer. From their website: Inescapable heat, cherry ice pops, absolutely nothing to do (yet so much to do), laying in warm grass watching the stars, hot asphalt, riding bikes, scraped up knees and elbows, screaming without a care in the world and having no idea what time it is. With notes of cherry, frankincense, cedar, heliotrope, rose, iris, dry grass, oud, sandalwood, swimming pool and strawberry.

Imaginary Authors The Cobra and the Canary EDP - When a tip from a clairvoyant leads 23-year old Neal Orris to a rural Connecticut barn housing his deceased father’s secret obsession, a pristine 1964 Shelby Cobra Roadster, it is the getaway ticket he was desperately searching for. After liberating his best friend Ike from his dead-end job on the family farm, the two hit the open highway. Aiming for the Palm Springs race tracks, their journey is a blur of seedy motels, cool swimming pools, hot debutantes, cocktails and cigarette smoke. Each stop finds the friends inventing new pseudonyms and personas for themselves, their innocent game hurtling into the depths of decadence and desolation. With notes of lemon, orris, tobacco flowers, leather, hay fields and asphalt.
