Description

Byredo Animalique was launched in 2023. Inspired by primal instincts, wild dancing, attraction, being carried away. I dunno about that, but this is that crazy good, comforting smell of the inside of your favorite well-worn leather purse. It has notes of lemon, bergamot, mimosa, violet, suede, amber and tobacco leaf.

From the brand - "A scent in which inhibition shatters, Animalique is an ode to the many-selved you that is always, forever, a story unfolding." Byredo Animalique is an EDP, eau de parfum.

Founded in 2006 in Sweden Byredo perfume's creator Ben Gorham (former basketball player) wanted to create perfumes of quality while keeping their production in Sweden.  Gorham had been fascinated with fragrance much of his life. When he meet Pierre Wulff, a perfumer, Byredo came into being.  Currently Gorham works with Olivia Giacobetti and Jerome Epinette to create his line of perfumes.

Byredo Animalique Reviews

Fragrantica - "It’s beautiful. The initial spray was quite masculine and the sales person also described it as masculine. But it leans feminine to me now, with the violet and mimosa and powder. The tobacco gives it an edge though that stops it from being too sweet and keeps a unisex vibe but again leaning more feminine to me. I can’t describe it better than the reviewer below who said it’s like a natural scent coming from a stylish woman. I went to a cafe afterwards forgetting I had tried it (and I only sprayed it once on my wrist) and noticed a beautiful scent, I presumed it was the woman in front of me, but then realised it was the perfume. It’s one of those perfumes to me that transcends seeming like a traditional perfume, it’s just so naturally good. I need a full bottle."

Fragrantica  - "A clean, soft leather stays throughout, but the rest of the scent contains a series of ephemeral moments that keep you coming back for more. In the drydown, the tobacco and amber emerge, sweetening up the scent and adding some additional warmth. A very elegant, versatile, surprising scent that has no business being named "Animalique" (as someone else has already mentioned). Maybe the best thing Byredo has done."

Fragrantica - "What a stylish scent!  First thought : this smells like newly bought designer shoes made from natural leather.  Imagine... early 00s, this woman fashionista with extremely good taste, dressed perfectly in grey and black outfit, walks by and you have a whiff of her scent. She is so well put together, mysterious and sexy but also elegant. You might assume what you smell is her natural scent, which could consist of her beauty products shes using (not perfume) or minty candies from her handbag, mixed all together. Its like this ethereal wind coming from her."

Fragrantica - "It’s very beautiful. It reminds me a lot of Mojave Ghost but with more suede accent and less musks. It’s more restrained and more classy. The name is wrong but the scent is decent. Be open-minded and don’t expect stallion leathers and fecals."
