Nice for office
Tamed rose raspberry and violet. Mild leather. Not too sweet. Just pleasant
Byredo Black Saffron is an Oriental scent based on saffron, launched in 2012. Saffron is holy to all Hindus, is the color of Buddhist robes and has become a symbol of India. This fragrance is inspired by the idea of sublime unity and features top notes of pomelo, Kashmiri saffron and juniper berries; middle notes of violet, leather and rose; and base notes of woods, raspberry and vetiver. It is an eau de parfum, edp.
Founded in 2006 in Sweden Byredo perfume's creator Ben Gorham (former basketball player) wanted to create perfumes of quality while keeping their production in Sweden. Gorham had been fascinated with fragrance much of his life. When he meet Pierre Wulff, a perfumer, Byredo came into being. Currently Gorham works with Olivia Giacobetti and Jerome Epinette to create his line of perfumes.
EauMG - "Black Saffron smells like a party and not just any party, but like a cocktail party with entertaining people. Fruity leathers like Tom Ford Tuscan Leather seem more pretentious, like a bunch of people trying to convince all the other people of how smart and clever they are. Black Saffron could also be labeled as pretentious but at least the people are fun. Black Saffron reminds me of gin cocktails, cigarettes, leather club chairs and laughter."
Basenotes - "It's like a leather jacket and cold, night-time air. This literally smells like the sweet smoke from a clove when it gets absorbed into someone's hair. It's like smoke break at the goth club and you're all huddling together in front of the door with freezing fingers, and someone has boozy cherry schnapps still on their breath."
Fragrantica - "Ah, this is almost perfection. It opens fruity with lots of violets and a dash of spicy saffron. It's a bit too powdery throughout yet I'm reminded of soft buttery leather, drenched in raspberry with hints of tobacco. I pair this perfume with my favorite leather jacket and black eyeliner. Very cool, inoffensive yet sexy. Perfect for Autumn, early Winter and crisp rainy days."

Tamed rose raspberry and violet. Mild leather. Not too sweet. Just pleasant
I love several of the Byredo scents and was pleasantly surprised when this came, since I really like the saffron smell. The problem is that on me, that saffron note comes out 20-30 min or so after spraying on the perfume. Then it smells great, but only for a short period of time, and with very little sillage. Applying more perfume isn't an option because I'm not too fond of the way it smells in the beginning, on me a quite heavy mixture of rose, and...violet? All in all an OK scent, but for the price it would have to be more than that.
