Description

Byredo Bal d'Afrique Body Mist was released in 2026, a lighter, summery version of the original (as described below)  From the brand - "Mojave Ghost Body Mist offers a refreshing and invigorating new way to experience the signature fragrance."

Byredo Mojave Ghost is inspired by the ghost flower, a rare species that blossoms in the Mojave Desert in the US southwest.  It was launched in 2014 with  notes of sapodilla, ambrette, magnolia, violet, sandalwood, ambergris and cedar.

Founded in 2006 in Sweden Byredo perfume's creator Ben Gorham (former basketball player) wanted to create perfumes of quality while keeping their production in Sweden. Gorham had been fascinated with fragrance much of his life. When he meet Pierre Wulff, a perfumer, Byredo came into being. Currently Gorham works with Olivia Giacobetti and Jerome Epinette to create his line of perfumes.

Byredo Mojave Ghost Reviews

Laura Loukola - "To me this scent is warm, the floral notes are “mature” and sophisticated with woody composition, which slowly open. I can see why the name is Mojave Ghost as it adds certain lingering and je ne sais quoi. You don’t wear the scent nor does the scent wear you - you become gently one."

Basenotes - "Mojave Ghost is more than just another pretty face. On the surface, it might be just another fruity-floral, but if you hanker after magnolia, put it on your test list. It threads a difficult needle, capturing a relatively simple and uncluttered magnolia scent with good persistence, apparently a difficult technical feat, considering how few I have found, and I have tried quite a few. It lasts about 6 hours on my skin, possibly longer, depending on heat and humidity, which usually extend its life on skin. I don't mind that it doesn't last all day, as Mojave Ghost is best used for daytime wear, comparable with some Hermessences, and a couple of Byredo's other daytime florals."

Fragrantica - "This is such an uplifting and joy bringing fragrance. It is absolutely delicious. I completely fell in love. Opens with a blast of yummy juicy sweet fruitiness, soon some fresh flowery notes come in but do not take over. It is a smooth, fresh and clean smell with a lovely harmony of light floral and juicy fruit notes."

Fragrantica - "Mojave Ghost is so unique. It’s a fragrance you will never find somewhere else. In my opinion, it transcends the floral/woody classification, or even the specific notes it is made out of. I usually like perfumes for their notes, but this one breaks all those labels. To me, it is truly about the memory. Not even a memory that I’m particularly fond of. It’s just a random piece of my past experience, but being able to connect to it through a scent is simply fascinating."
