Description

Cathedrals and churches around the world have a scent that is a mixture of old hymnals, candle wax, wooden furniture and lingering incense. If a church is made of stone they can also give off mineral and earthy odors as well. This sampler features fragrances that are inspired by or dedicated to cathedrals, churches or places of worship.

You will receive a 1/2ml sample (1ml sample vial filled half full) of each of the fragrances in this sampler.

  1. Obvious Malfa Wall EDP - The small town of Malfa, located on the island of Salina, became famous since the works of Lampedusa and Visconti. The Aeolian island, bordered by sea spray and winds, was the source of inspiration for this fragrance. Sicilian citrus leads the way into the heart of the nave of the Church of San Lorenzo, where the scent of wood paneling vies with the coldness of thick walls dating from 1703. Incense rises to the heavens, carrying with it the prayers and hopes of an entire people. Created by Julien Rasquinet, it features top notes of blackcurrant liquor, mandarin, thyme and orange; middle notes of olibanum and sage; and base notes of leather, oud and cade.
  2. Solstice Scents Basilica Perfume Oil - The scent of grand and humbling mosaics, haunting pipe organ notes, polished pews, smoldering resins and reverence. Basilica is comprised of a rich labdanum absolute which smells of sweet, balsamic golden amber, vanilla, essential oils of frankincense, including a very fine green Hojary, bright rosewood, myrrh, peru balsam, sandalwood, a few drops of galbanum and cedarwood. Basilica is very resinous and dry with sweet and softly smoky elements, a definite morpher. The frankincense blend is bold on initial application. The scent hugs intimately close to the skin on the dry down, but smells divine.
  3. Arcana Wildcraft Mad Monk Perfume Oil - Some considered Grigori Rasputin to be a depraved charlatan, while others believed he was a mystic with magical powers, but no one could forget his haunting gaze. With notes of golden amber resin, Siberian fir needle, Arcana’s Holy Terror (burning frankincense, sandalwood, deep myrrh, and dusty beeswax candles), coarse brown bread and warm fur.
  4. Demeter Holy Water Cologne - The porcelain font, ozone scented water, oak scented pew - all mingled. To capture this scent, imagine an old European church in a small town off the beaten track. This is the scent of the blessed water you might find there in an old stone container.
  5. Black Baccara Midnight Mass Perfume Oil - The aromatic experience of Midnight Mass is captured in this evocative unisex blend. Sacred, timeless, evocative, brooding and precise to the aromas of a Midnight Mass in winter. The aroma palette is smoky, incense and resinous. Highlights include frankincense, myrrh, ancient moss, aged merlot, antique woods and extinguished candle wick.
  6. The Little Book Eater Pillars of the Earth Perfume Oil - This fragrance is inspired by the epic historical novel, The Pillars of the Earth. Earthy, vintage and woody, it is made with the scents of frankincense, myrrh, sandalwood, and patchouli. Reminiscent of an ancient cathedral and church offerings. The perfect combination for medieval drama and architectural pursuits.
  7. Black Baccara Cathedral Noir Perfume Oil - Cathedral Noir is a deep, dark, smoky fragrance that conjures visions of long forgotten prayers echoing in the shadowy alcoves of an ancient cathedral. It begins with thick wafts of juniper and cedar incense smoke and reveals a quick phantom of the metallic tang of holy water as it begins to dry down. On the dry down, it unveils the remains of thick melted candle wax, lilies, billowing bowls of aged myrrh resin, labdanum and hints of fire. This blend opens very smoky with a true bonfire aroma. Allow it a few minutes to unfold on the skin to experience all of its shades and nuances. It is 90% natural. The aroma palette is earthy, resinous, and smoky. Highlights include holy water, juniper and cedar incense smoke, melted candle wax, aged myrrh resin, lilies and deep aged labdanum.
